Just go boating nearby. They'll send a welcoming committee.

Heard you get a free escorted tour with that visit too.

Not only that, you get a tailored suit to go with it. B|

Yep I was there in 1998 and lived there from 1991-1998, and my Bro. just came to the US from there about 2 weeks ago.
It is a very nice place, great people, and a lot of history. The current government is a religious one so as long as you respect their culture you will be fine.
I personally want t o go back so I can jump of some of the awesome cliffs, and waterfalls I remember.

If you have any questions feel free to ask i will do my best to answer them.

Awesome! Yeah, I'd give them the utmost respect (they deserve no less) when/if I go. I'll definitely ask you a bunch of questions if I get close to actually doing it.

At this point they'd probably just say "who?" Or whatever the equivalent word is in Farsi.

That, or perhaps they would just deny his existence. Which in essence would give him free run of the place.B|

don't go...

Rosie O'Donnell will spread the word that the government sent you there on purpose to let you get captured to help ignite a war...
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

I prefer to live in the U.S. where the government respects me regardless of my religious or cultural affiliations, and where people don't have to fear persecution because they're "different".

Seems like it'd just be an interesting place to visit.

Seriously, do you think they were given any input on the suits they got? I mean, did they get to choose the thread, color, and number of buttons? That's pretty cool that political hostages now get parting gifts. The Iranians should have instituted that policy twenty-six years ago. If two weeks gets you a tailored suit, imagine what fifteen months would get you!

A friend of ours from Iran just became a US citizen, and she's getting her mother out of there as we speak. They just a green card for her. Her mother has a long memory of the good and bad of it all over the past 70~ years there. Her heart is broken to leave, but she could no longer stay. Things there aren't great.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!
