ryoder 1,590 #52 November 27, 2006 QuoteUh Michele Dear.. http://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-LVM-42W2-1080p-LCD-HDTV/dp/B000E7RACK/sr=8-4/qid=1164571429/ref=pd_bbs_4/103-3286752-2095813?ie=UTF8&s=electronics You do understand that is a monitor, not a television right, (no tuner)? I have a friend who is planning to buy one of those shortly. The best deal he has found is here: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4076905 There is also a 37" version which I just ordered a few days ago. Best deal I found is $1000 including shipping: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4TWbkzVVc7Y/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=westinghouse&i=647LVM37W3 Cool thing about the Westinghouse is lots of video inputs! I have been using a Sony HD tuner I bought on eBay over a year ago. If I was going to buy a new HD tuner today I would get the Samsung. It retails for $250, but you can find in online for less than $200."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. billvon 3,075 #54 March 5, 2007 I got a 42" Aquos LCD (I think Sharp makes them) and have been quite happy. They are LCD rather than plasma, but others have described the benefits of that.
skymedic 0 #55 March 5, 2007 Anne and I have a 46" Sharp Aquos and have been very happy with it. Looks very sharp with HDTV set up. It is ALMOST too big. I said ALMOST...Anne thinks it is too big. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....
billvon 3,075 #56 March 5, 2007 >They have now already invented a chip (AT SAME COST) that can >handle both Blu-Ray and HDDVD. Now all that needs to be invented is an >inexpensive optical pickup that can handle both formats. Yep, and that's the player I'm waiting for. Until then I will be happy with a blu-ray drive in a PC (good for backups too!)
willis60 0 #57 April 2, 2007 I can't understand why gamers bypass Aquos LCD TV's and prefer Westinghouse LCD's. Their prices are almost identical, but the complaint others have on Westy is that it has no tuner in which Aquos cannot be attributed of. Just a thought. mikempb 0 #58 April 2, 2007 In my opinion even though everyone isnt leaning toward Plasma anymore I say It is a good choice if money is an issue. they say they burn out after a certain amount of viewing so if your going to leave it on most of the day forget it. However if you only watch tv a few hrs a day I think its the best choice. Think about it Noone nowandays keeps a TV more than 9 or 10 yrs right? So why not save 500 bucks or so. chances are that DLP or LCD will be outdated soon enough and the Pic on the plasma is great.
