That would have totally destroyed the credibility of the character. Still, very similar. I really liked this new show. I thought it was very well done. mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
LORDARION 0 #53 December 15, 2003 I thought this version of the movie "Wing Commander" was better than the first. The visual effects certainly made more sense than the original Freddie Prinz Jr./Matthew Lillard movie and certainly kept the feeling of that great game series! Huh?... What's that?... This is suppose to be about "Battlestar Galactica"?... Are you kidding??? Well then, I did my best to like this remake, really I did. I've even taped it because I'm such a longtime fan. That being said, I couldn't watch the entire series. I couldn't even get through the first installment without running Wing Commander Prophecy on this computer. The similarities are far too great. I applaud the cast & crew for bravely submitting THEIR version of that (to me) sacred and revered show, but I am looking forward to any LEGITIMATE remakes by Richard Hatch or anyone on the original 'Galactica production team. After all, it's their legacy and this version feels somehow polluted to us diehards!!! If only they had based it on the Wing Commander universe, I'm sure it would have been wildly successful. Thank You P.S. Sorry 'bout using your space Mr. Harju, but I just registered to post this one comment and couldn't figure out where to do it! -Lord Arion-

Zenister 0 #58 October 7, 2006 Everyone still watching this? once again Science Fiction..... (vs Sci-Fi.. there is a difference...Google Harlan Ellison and some of his essays on the subject.edit got bored and dug ONE EXAMPLE up :D http://harlanellison.com/buzz/bw175h.htm) ....shows it is one of the few genres that actually address some of the major social/political issues of the time, without beating you over the head with the lead pipe of "this is a message" its so good it makes me sad for those who dismiss Science Fiction to the realm of "nerds and geeks".. you wont find much else on TV that actually lives up the same standards of writing BSG is showing in the new series...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. I imagine this season, if it continues in this vein, will 'offend' a number of viewers incapable of seeing past their inherent prejudices..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. downwardspiral 0 #64 October 7, 2006 I never thought tv could be so good. Fortunately I discovered BSG on netflix a couple weeks ago. There is nothing on tv written as well. I'm hooked. My favorite part is how seemingly religious the cylons are. I can't tell if they are just mocking humans or not. www.FourWheelerHB.com
sundevil777 102 #65 October 7, 2006 It is interesting how they now say it was wrong to want to kill all humans. But they still don't mind killing a lot of humans to get them to behave. So, not only do they want humans to survive, but they want to live with them, be in charge of them. Why wouldn't they just leave the humans alone, unless they have a need to control? Certainly a lot of opportunity for interesting drama. Am I the only one that thinks the original BSG was really crap? I expected all the people to be rescued before the execution. Do you think they really were executed? Hard to believe the show would do away with all those characters?People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
skyberdyber 0 #66 October 7, 2006 This show is the most brilliant and riveting piece of TV I have seen in years. The characters are complex and imperfect. The enemy is ruthless, intelligent, and not yet entirely revealed. The goal of the good guys is very straight forward (unlike other similar shows), survive, find Earth. Not unlike real life. They won't execute everyone, the shots are from the cops switching sides and shooting the cylons, I guarantee. Not to mention the previews showed all of those characters still alive. The plot is is a little political for me with this opening episode. Very obviously the writers' making some statements on the war in Iraq. However, it does give a different point of view to think about those things which is the idea behind all great art. Baltar is a pussy and slime bucket. What a great character, I love this show!!! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
downwardspiral 0 #67 October 7, 2006 The last episode I watched is when #6 "revealed" to Dr. Baltar that there is no chip and he is really just scitzo. I think I love her. And she really does look so much hotter in sweat pants and a pony tail. www.FourWheelerHB.com
MarkM 0 #68 October 7, 2006 Quote So, not only do they want humans to survive, but they want to live with them, be in charge of them. Why wouldn't they just leave the humans alone, unless they have a need to control? In their view humans are brutal animals that the universe is better without. But once they started to exterminate the human race they realized that they were becoming no better than humans. The problem is now they don't know what to do with the remaining survivors. The machines can't leave them alone, otherwise they'll breed up and rape the universe some more. So they have to protect humans against their own nature in some way. Pretty good story line. mrGuy 0 #71 October 8, 2006 Love BSG. From the premier episode a couple years ago, I've been hooked. The story line, plot, depth of characters and FX, is beyond anything TV has offered. A shame that some remember the original tv show and think this is anything similar beyond the title. I find myself wondering if it's possible that the Cylons will splinter into opposed factions.....this show could go anywhere.

JODER, it's shure going to wake up some old an not so old memories. Wonder how long it will be before they (the writers) are told to turn it down a bit, Shame it comes under the heading SI FI as I'm shure alot of people won't watch it for that reason. PhreeZone 20 #74 March 26, 2007 Just to bump this back up. The season finale was tonight and once again the writers and actors just proved that this is one of the best TV shows ever put together. I had to watch the last 15 minutes over 3 times because I was so blown away by it. I'm not going to post any spoilers since it would be unfair to anyone that has'nt seen it yet, but wow... It looks like we have to wait until January for Season 4. There is a 2 hour DVD coming out this fall and possibly released on TV too about Pegasus and more backstory on it. It also looks like Season 4 might be the end of the series. The writers are wanting to end it on their terms instead of dragging the story out for years and then ending it abruptly when it gets canceled leaving all the loose ends out there (ala SG1).Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rehmwa 2 #75 April 2, 2007 QuoteJust to bump this back up. The season finale was tonight and once again the writers and actors just proved that this is one of the best TV shows ever put together. I had to watch the last 15 minutes over 3 times because I was so blown away by it. The court scene with Apollo was the highlight of the season - it was an excellently written (and even better acted) dialogue on the nature of what justice should be and how the mob mentality can distort the justice process - plus the (normally) cliche of the "one good man standing up for principle in the face of overwhelming conflict" was done really well. I found it related much to what is happening in the courts and the congress in today's world. Justice doesn't exist, only fickle and subjective and, usually petty, popularity contests. The sad part is it's happening with 5 billion people, not 50,000. Absolutely riveting. But a season finale in March with no new season until the next calendar year? If they need that much time, I hope the Computer graphics will be outstanding. ...
