DeNReN 0 #1 February 27, 2007 So last week the G/F had to make a shitload of egg sami's for a funeral ....... there were 6 eggs left over...I joked to her about pickling them for me as it has been quite some time sence I have had them...next day she throws them in a mason jar with white vinegar Well of course a little research into recipes on the interweb is warrented...... Next day we purchase another doz, a bigger jar and some cider vinegar....so now there are 18 eggs in cider vinegar pickling So my plan is to let them pickle for atleast 6 weeks and then bring them to the DZ Anyone else like or have any good pickled egg recipes or stories??? Thunderbow 1 #3 February 27, 2007 I love pickled eggs with beet juice. Makes them red. Don't know if it does anything for the flavor. A couple of them and a couple of beers and look out. Don't light any matches unless you know what you are doing. Nice blue flame if you do. Tried a couple of recipes but not a lot of luck. Usually get them at a deli or a bar.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lord, let me be the person my dog thinks I am.

Andy_Copland 0 #8 February 27, 2007 Think of the consequences. Pickled eggs rock my fucking socks but speaking from experience, beer and pickled eggs produce some evil gas. JENNR8R 0 #20 February 28, 2007 This is my favorite pickled eggs recipe. I've never let them sit for more than a few days before serving them. Rosy Pickled Eggs 1 can Pickled Beets 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar 1 clove Garlic 2 teaspoons Mixed Pickling Spices ½ teaspoon Salt 4 cups Water 12 hard-cooked Eggs 1 Onion, sliced and separated into rings In a large glass jar, combine beets, vinegar, water, garlic, pickling spices, and salt; mix well. Add eggs and onion rings; cover and refrigerate for several days. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. sd-slider 0 #21 February 28, 2007 Just finished my last batch....this formula has been in my family for a few generations. White Vinegar Beet Juice Sugar (Equal Parts) Cinnamon Stick / 3-5 Cloves Beet juice first / then match quantities. Eggs/Beets/Juice If you can get the "unpickled" whole beets they work best. If you can only get the pickled variety, back off of the sugar by 1 part. Enjoy. . .Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix! wmw999 2,532 #22 February 28, 2007 I do something similar every Christmas. Love them. But I get all of the liquids with the spices up to boiling temperature (and then cool a little, obviously) before plopping the eggs in. The color is luscious. And they make incredibly good egg salad sandwiches. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it.
