sioux 0 #1 March 26, 2007 How cute is this baby polar bear? It's mother abandoned him so the Berlin Zoo Keeper has been feeding him with a bottle. There was a minor controversy when an animal rights group said he should be put down by lethal injection since that's what would happen in nature. But since Europe has fallen in love with him, that discussion has fallen away... http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events/lf/022504polarbears/im:/070323/photos_ts_wl_afp/377d6c729d5d5bdf848dce17aa6561ea;_ylt=Amlt7npdKcZTeV1lIVtud.PmWMcF edit since it seems to be a clicky... And it was nature all the time.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

At first, in the newspapers, they were saying that they were thankful for the debate going on, but now they're all "No Comment." tigra 0 #9 March 26, 2007 Their point was that because of his exposure to humans, he's never going to be able to live in the wild, or even live in captivity with other polar bears. And he's not going to be such a "sweetie" when he's full grown. Its a valid concern, and I hope the zoo officials are working to find a way to re-assimilate him with the other bears once he's able to fend for himself more. He's a polar bear, not a puppy. He's a polar bear, not a puppy Yes, you are right. I didn't want to get into the whole "should he be alive or not" question. The fact is that he will never have to live in the wild, and arguably, will never have to live with other polar bears. Is he better off for being alive? We'll see. These little guys do tend to get bigger. I just wanted to say "Aaawwww.... so cute!!" tigra 0 #13 March 26, 2007 I agree, he's adorable and I don't think I would have euthanized him either. I was just pointing out that there was a little more to the controversy than "natural laws"!

lisamariewillbe 1 #15 March 26, 2007 Ive read plenty of information stating that Polar bears can be introduced to other captives their age and be fine. Most recent I think was on a Animal Planet show. Although he cant be reintroduced to the wild, there is a need for them in captivity. Im glad Knut got to live. Hes adorable.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
