Unstable 9 #1 March 25, 2007 Hey Gang, this week I made some jumps a skydive mesquite and JTVAL did some video and burned me a CD of some of our jumps - great guy. Anyways - I'm looking for a simple way to take the dvd and grab images off the screen - I use an iBook G4 with the basics, no fancy video editing software. I wanted to grab some images to post as avatars, save on facebook - et cetera. Does anybody know a simple way to do this?=========Shaun ==========
Nickkk 0 #2 March 25, 2007 I love the simplicity of Macs... Play the video, pause it where you want to take the shot and hit: Apple + Shift + 3 Now, if you only want to copy a segment of the screen, hit Command + Shift + 4, and the mouse cursor will change from an arrow into cross hairs. Simply click and drag the cross hairs over the area of the screen of which you want to take a picture. When you release the mouse button, you will hear a clicking sound reminiscent of a camera shutter and a new file will appear on your desktop in pdf format. Most Macs these days come with a free copy of GraphicConverter, which you can use to convert the resulting pdf file into JPEG, GIF, PNG, or whatever image format you like the best. Have fun! Unstable 9 #3 March 25, 2007 Yeah - I tried tht first but Apple disables that function when playing a DVD. = (=========Shaun ==========
Nickkk 0 #4 March 25, 2007 Hmm, didnt try it with a dvd, only with video files. You could always download a free ripper like handbrake and rip them and then do this. But there may be an easier way. monkey1031 0 #5 March 25, 2007 download "mac the ripper" - You'll have to download the vid & audio separately, but it's really easy to "re-align" them... -smd7
