I've also learned that for the average DZ.com poster, his or her jumping skills are inversely proportional to the number of posts made. On a more serious note, there's tons of really good material written by truly knowledgeable people. I've just had to lurk for a few months to sort out the parrots from the content creators. I'll read anything some posters write or might have input on and skip the 'what color should my new rig have?' things. Think 'the 45 degree rule' experiments by Kallend and BillVon were the posts that made me consider DZ.com a serious supplement to real dz bonfire beer experience-sharing sessions. I don't have to downsize quite as fast as they say, and I can wait with the freeflying. I do it for fun, and don't have anything to prove, so I can decide for myself what I want to do. I learnt that my instructors are just ordinary mortals like me, and don't know everything. Gear: A lot about gear, how it works, new gear on the market, what kind is best for me, and so on. Maybe not so many definite answers as good first hand opinions. But that's valuable too. Much more informative than the manufacturer's descriptions of the products. People: Nothing I didn't know, but got confirmed that most people are actually nice and want to help other people. They can make bad and tasteless jokes, but really they just want to have fun.
