LisaM 0 #1 March 21, 2007 And it scared the bejeesus out of me! So there is an accident in the far left lane of 3 lanes. I move all the way to the right cause it is shorter and the 2 left lanes are slow cause they are merging into one. Right after the accident, I scoot to the left to get in the turn lane for the light. I scoot between 3 cars. It's rush hour, he left a space. I was taught to drive outside Chicago in rush hour and view this space as an opportunity. Anyway, after I am already behind the car in front of me, this guy behind me attempts to go around me on the left. WTH? So of the 2 left turn lanes, I go in the one on the right cause there are no cars and he follows me on my arse. So, with me in my litte RX-8, I fly around the corner hoping to get him off my butt. I fishtail and all. He did not totally keep up but then came back up on my butt. Cripes! I flew past some cars and got into the left lane to get on the highway and he came right up next to me. Real close! So I had to scoot over cause he freaked me out! I just stared straight ahead and thank goodness he did not get on the highway. I would have flipped my lid. Got my heart racing. I was scared! If you don't want someone in front of you while going 2 mph, don't leave space for them. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?

I take exception when someone's behind me on a 2 lane road and passes me in a no-passing zone, especially in my neighborhood. Well one day I was driving my Toyota MR2 Spyder (which could probably fly if it had wings!). I was on my way home on my road (rural country route) a mile from home. Some fucker was riding my ass and I was going the speed limit. You're not supposed to pass on this road. He did anyway. Just as he was pulling even I flipped him the bird out the window. He flipped me back. Got a look at him, some late teen or early 20's punk-ass kid in a pick up. I flip him back He flips me again. He starts to pull away. Me being a dumb ass, I picked up speed too. We were about to reach my home and I wasn't going to let him know where I live so I drove right on past my house, and flip the SOB another birdie. Then he suddenly pulls over and motions me to do the same. I thought hell no and blow past him and stomped on the gas. There was no way this shitty little pick up could keep up with my rocket but he was a stubborn little shit, and a little more reckless than me. I got way ahead of him on the long boring stretches and he'd catch up when I got to the intersections. I figured there was no way the stupid fucker was going to leave me alone so I circled back into town. I decided I was just going to drive straight to the police department. I got within 2 blocks before he wised up and disappeared. Stupid young punk. Rule #1 in any confrontation on the roads, never get out of your car or even open a window if you do stop. Then again, never stop anywhere but in front of the police dept or police car if you can help it. No dumb fuck is gonna mess with you at that point. Of course, nothing tops the dumb ass I saw on the highway tailgating an unmarked police car. I knew it was a police car because it had the "police interceptor" logo on the back (Ford Crown Victoria). The dumb ass was just that, fucking dumb as an ox. He was blowing his horn, flashing his lights and driving within inches of the police car's bumper! The policeman in that car decided to radio in his fellow cops and soon enough a marked car passed me and settled in behind the idiot and pulled him over. The first cop pulled over too. I just had to see the look on the idiot's face when the first cop stepped out of his car in full uniform! It was CLASSIC!!! Scoop 0 #20 March 21, 2007 I may have read it wrong but it sounds like you were the victim of your own impatience and inconsiderate driving. If theres been an accident in the carriageway the last thing you want is people weaving in and out of traffic. People (drivers) arent paying full attention and there may be people wandering around too. I don't like to drive too close to other cars on fast roads as people do all sorts of weird crap and it gives you so much more time to react. So when some office jockey in a hurry flies past me and dives in that space compromising my safety I get the fucking hump too. Just remember that for most 'road rage' incidents theres some action that triggers it. I've done it myself, cut someone up because I'm going to over shoot the junction and then you know how you avoid to look in the mirror because you know they are pissed. lol

Scoop 0 #22 March 21, 2007 We all do it but I can see the other side too. In a way I'm glad people do lose their tempers now and again. Its human nature. It shouldnt be surprising that people driving cars get the hump. My cars quite humble but nice, its my pride and joy. Only worth about £4500 but if someone damaged it pulling across without looking or doing a silly overtake I would probably drag them out their car. I work hard to pay for my car, I work hard to pay for my insurance. I keep it immaculate and being a young driver, I am finally reaping the rewards of no claims history. Someone hits me, I'm without a car, lose my no claims history, insurance will go up, and could potentially be injured, or on the roads I drive, a collision resulting from a dangerous overtake from an oncoming car would definately be a fatal. When I dodge that bullet from a wanker driving another car, excuse me if I get the red mist. People don't react that way in the street so much because, in my opinion, theres not so much at stake. All theses pyschologists and stuff that love to try and understand the thought process behind road rage. Someone should set fire to their car, bill them an extra £500 a year for no reason, break all their limbs, kill their girlfriend and anything else that seems reasonable and ask them what emotions they are feeling. Then they'll undersatnd why people get so emotive when they are driving. THIS EXCLUDES YOUR PYSCHO NUTTERS WHO JUST GO OFF ON ONE BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING THE SPEED LIMIT ETC
LisaM 0 #23 March 21, 2007 I looked! With both eyes even! I can see the other side, I am on it more often than on this side. I disagree people need to lose their tempers now and then.
