Most DZ's are somewhat accessable by public transport. Might need to arrange a lift with a friendly jumper the final few miles.

Im not from London but the UK is now very expensive, 38k doesnt seem a lot when you look at the cost of living and rent would be HIGH. Most of the people I know that worked in London lived outside and commuted in.

okay - if you lived out and commuted in would that salary be enough to live on???

I'm guessing if this works - I'll finally have to give up my RV and living on a DZ but this is all pie in the sky really.

£38,000 not enough to live on?! seriously? yeah london is expensive but thats still a nice wage. i know lots of people who live off less than £20k (admittedly all are under 25 and not paying for mortgages) and live in london. if its not a long term move, say rent for £500 a month in a decent sort of place. Travel card for central london is around a fiver a day. a pint of beer in a pub will be around the £3 region. cant really think of any easy examples of the cost of living. BigMac Meal is about £3.90:P i might have my numbers slightly wrong as im shattered. move to london, its wicked, for the amusement of seeing chavs if nothing else :D

The salary is pretty damn good. I was on 26,000 and that was more than enough for me.
Living in london though, London is aweful.
Yes full of rude fuckers that hate americans so make your choice wisely.

Getting to dz from london though, be better to buy a car as trains are public transport to go distances inside the uk can be pretty expensive.

1. Quite a few, fairly close. Public transport would be possible but inconvenient. Lift sharing works once you make a few freinds.

Seriously mate... Why the fuck would you want to go to england? The weather is shit, the jokes are not funny, the beer is warm and the weather is shit, it is always rainging or grey skies, the place is nearly as expensive as sydney to live and the weather is shit, they speak funny, the weather is shit and the weather is shit.

By the way, the weather is really shit. You will find the english really dont like americans. Besides that, the weather is shit.

:D:D:D Well, you know... hindsight is always 20/20... I wanted to go, but not only did I have too much to do at home, I didn't feel right about going. I've been around long enough to have seen some horrific crashes. Anybody remember the "Dead" Mike Vederman incident at Quincy '97? I was there, I saw it happen. Same damn thing as Danny and Bob... only Mike slammed onto the runway and the other skydiver got off scotfree. How Mike lived, I'll never know, but I had a close-up look at him and I never want to see another skydiver like that again, and I've seen three like that, including my own canopy collision 10 years ago that killed the other jumper at Emerald Coast on the state record attempt.

I'll just thank myself for missing a good boogie and not having another horrific memory seared in my mind again. [:/] I'm sorry to all who saw it happen though. :(

OK so looks like im wrong 38k would appear to be a good wage, Ive not lived there for 14 years, but from my last visit, the price of fuel, car insurance etc etc.
Have to agree with the above though the weather is shit so if your planning on jumping youll be able to pop over to Spain for about 40 pounds return. skydivespain.com would recommend their xmas boogie.
