I think that is the most true statement I have ever heard. :)

The chapters of my past are just that...my past. I won't look back yet I will look forward to a beautiful tomorrow with no regrets.

Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, and Today is a Gift which is why they call it the Present:)

The way I'm supposed to deal with it is to figure out exactly what behavior it is that I am angry with (and word it that way -- don't say "it's making you angry" because, well, it's your emotion), and verbalize that to myself.

Once that's done, it diffuses the emotion enough sometimes that it doesn't really matter any more. But if it does, then I should take those carefully-chosen words and explain to the other person that I am angry with that behavior, and why.

Of course, usually when I get pissed off enough I cuss and throw something at the door.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Agreed. Being able to put emotions into words can be a very powerful way to deal with those emotions. Unfortunately, I'm a living epitome of alexithymia.

I don't have answers for your problem.

I know that I feel angry when I'm scared, or when I believe someone has done something deliberate to hurt me or someone I love.

I know that is often not the case. I feel scared when I'm not in control. Mostly, in this life we are not in control. That's why skydiving appeals the way it does. We may not know if we have saved enough for retirement, but we're pretty sure how the next 60 seconds will turn out - and will have proof - positive or negative - of that 60 seconds from now.

The doctors never set out to bankrupt anyone. When they were students, and sleep deprived, and studying all they could, they were not thinking of all the people they could leave destitute.

We have little to look forward to in this life outside of the relationships we forge with others. It's those relationships which count. Not the money. Not the pain. Not the anger.

I beat the crap out of random people with weapons like baseball bats, brass knuckles, and on occasion, my pickup truck...:|:D:D
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
