masterrig 1 #26 March 3, 2007 I know, what you are talking about. Those things are tough!!! Out here, everbody has 'Ranch Hand' grille guards. They seem to do a good job. The worst thing in hitting a deer is, having it go through the windshield and kick you to death. Out here, we have deer, javelina and feral hogs to contend with. I damned sure, don't want to hit a pig! Chuck

I would have just plowed through it with that old thing. Safari bars are better than grill guards. Safari bars are angled so it pushes brush and stuff under your truck.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192
sharimcm 0 #28 March 4, 2007 I have HATED deer since I was 17 (I'm 30 now). A 9-point buck ran out in front of me as I was driving an '85 Dodge Omni. Yea, I hit it, then my car veered off the road, slid sideways through a culvert, flipped once, and come to a final stop when I hit a tree. The car was totaled and well, so was the deer (the cop said I must have been going over the speed limit since they found the deer with his head up his ass). I feel your pain... Trust me, I do. Fuckers. Roll that carcass under your vehicle and it seems, it would tear hell out of the front end, exhaust system, etc. What I have seen of the 'end result' of a pick-up with a grille guard, hitting a deer has been minimal. I recently saw the end result of a new Mustang that hit a javelina. Came damned close to totaling the car. Chuck
epoch 0 #31 March 5, 2007 Hmmm, seems that there is a VERY similar thread over on our side of the house, posted around the same time. Wonder if it is the same person, or if it is a thief? At least have a name that it transferable... Link For The Lazy /dev/man/climber
