London-Gatwick

Thanks for the info - I appreciate it!

Trying to find places reasonably near the hotel that have availability... there's a Skylane hotel that has a single room for 49 GBP, looks like it's 3-4 miles from the airport...

No tube service from Gatwick. Hop on the Gatwick express, a train that cost roughly $25 USD. From there you can access the tube via victoria station. Trains leave about every 15 mins. London is a rediculously easy system when you do look at it, and the transit workers there are extrememly helpful.

Go for it and explore, london is a great town!

go to www.hotels.com, you can browse and see pics of the place and you pay in advance (hotel charge and taxes) so you don't have to worry about paying when you get there, unless you order porn.

Have Scoop pick you up and take you to Andy Copeland's place. On second thought....:D

:D:D:D

Actually, I wouldn't mind meeting up with some folks for a beer...but I won't be up all night, either... I'll have been up for around 20 hours by the time I land at Gatwick at 1900...

I usually stay in the little, neighboring town called Horley, at a B&B. There's a *great* pub in Horley called The Old Six Bells that dates back to about 900 AD.

I usually make it my "home base" when doing the tourist thing in London - -only a 20-30 minute train ride to London.

heh. i used to live in Horley. lots of B&B's but you gotta fine them. but to be honest, £49 a night for the skylane, (similar price maybe for the travel inn) is a good price. Book it if you want it because it definitely won't be free on the night.

some of them run at £150+

a cab into horley to the aforementioned pub should cost less than, or aroundabout a fiver, horley is literally less than 3 miles from the airport. i worked at the airport and i walked it sometimes, it's that close.
