jakee 1,559 #1 November 17, 2006 Fucking rocks! Barely any of the over the top gadgetry and evil space lazers that helped make Die Another Day such an embarrasment and more of the real spy story tension that made From Russia With Love such a classic. And after all the talk about Daniel Craig - that guy was good! From the start of the film it was obvious that he was a good lead but I wasn't quite convinced if he was Bond or not, by the end of the film he'd made it his own. Oh yeah, the end of the film - at 2.5 hrs it's in danger of just beginning to drag a little but damn does the last 30 seconds leave you wanting more So who else is going to see it?Do you want to have an ideagasm? jakee 1,559 #5 November 17, 2006 No skydiving, but the high rise chase after Sebastian Foucault (google 'Le Parkour') is pretty spectacular with a fair amount of building to building jumps and stuffOh, just remembered, the theme song is shit Bring back Shirley Bassey and those Brass backing sections!Do you want to have an ideagasm? AshDeBash 0 #6 November 17, 2006 Saw it last night. Absolutely the dog's. Ian Fleming will probably rest more peacefully now that a Bond film has been made that more closely follows the style of his novels. Definitely a thriller. I wasn't sure about Daniel Craig as Bond either, but am now a complete convert! Agree about the below average theme tune. It's classified as a 12A here in the UK. I don't think I'll take my 9-year old son just yet because the violence is less sanitised than some of the previous movies.

Yep, absolutely right. I'd always thought that Tim Dalton was the screen Bond that was closest to Flemings character, but it didn't quite come off on the big screen. This time it's worked. Agree about the violence too - gritty, messy and personal. No more identikit security guards falling over railingsDo you want to have an ideagasm? AshDeBash 0 #11 November 17, 2006 My reservations had nothing to do with his hair colour. They were more to do with other things I'd seen him in before. And anyway, we (men) all think of ourselves as secret agent Bond-type characters, and I'm talk dark and handsome!!
ifall 0 #12 November 17, 2006 Just got back from seeing it. I must say it was a very good movie. I recommend seeing it. It moved a little slow at times though but the action scenes were excellent. Except my balls were hurting just watching one of the scenes. Nothing like going to a Citrix iforum summary seminar and getting in a free premier movie afterwards. downwardspiral 0 #14 November 17, 2006 Thanks for the reviews. I haven't been able to watch a bond film without cringing since "For your eyes only". Maybe I'll have to see this one.www.FourWheelerHB.com
PhreeZone 20 #15 November 17, 2006 Out of the "modern" Bond's the only one worth my time in watching was Goldeneye. Beyond that everything started to really go down hill.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
jakee 1,559 #16 November 17, 2006 QuoteOut of the "modern" Bond's the only one worth my time in watching was Goldeneye. Beyond that everything started to really go down hill. Totally agreed - each one became less convincing up until Die Another Day which IMO is just an embarrasment. They have turned it around with this film though. It certainly helps that they were working from some original source material again and the tension (in the casino for instance) was being created in very different ways than just "look how big that last lazer beam explosion shit was!" Its kind of like how Batman Begins got rid of the horrifically over the top campness of the George Clooney days. And it's better than Batman BeginsDo you want to have an ideagasm? pchapman 279 #18 November 18, 2006 QuoteNo skydiving, Wasn't it BJ Worth who kept on getting work for setting up the skydiving stunts in a lot of Bond movies? Guess he was out of work on this movie. Not that I mind the direction the movie has taken; no need to automatically have a skydiving stunt each time.

PhreeZone 20 #20 November 18, 2006 Agreed! This movie might actually end up being the defining point in the resurrection of the Bond franchise. I detected only about 3-4 CG scenes and any of them could have been lost and still made the movie as great as it ended up being. Daniel Craig actually pulled the Bond role off in the end. It was refreshing to see a nonCG heavy action movie with lots of guns, blood and sex. This clearly is not a Bond ment for young kids, this is a gritty, dirty Bond that shows the gore of death. Hands down the best Bond released in the last 10 years and probally will rank in the top 3 of all time when its all said and done in my opinion. Goldfinger will forever be hard to top, but this one gave it a run for the money. kbordson 8 #22 November 18, 2006 But... honestly, I think refering to her as a Bitch was a bit overcompensating. (I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll just leave it at that.) Wonderful movie. Stong character development. Lots of action. And a blonde bond was ok.... I liked his transition from arrogant to "open" to cold. Sad... but understandable. Good movie, worth the ticket price. I'm probably going to go see it again with some friends that want to see it and actually pay for it this time. I haven't been going to new movies because of the prices but this one's worth it.
