All inclusive vacation

Recommended Posts

I need some advice on these-I want to take my wife somewhere warm on spring break but I don't have the time to do a lot of research. How are these all-inclusive resort deals and where are some good ones
I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

I've done Cancun, Cabo, and Playa Del Carmen.

Look for an adults only if you are not taking kids.
I.e. Adventura Spa & Resort in Playa Del Carmen.

Read some reviews on tripadvisor.com
You will get a good feel for what is out there.
#1 you can usuall get a free room upgrade upon check in
#2 the food at the buffets is so-so to good.
#3 the food at the dinner restaurants is usually better
#4 look for resorts offering top shelf liqueurs (if you are in to that..... and who the hell isn't)

Have a blast.
Remember that a 5 star resort that is all-inclusive is not a REAL 5 star spa... Remember that going into it and you will not be let down.

Think that you are going to stay ate the Biltmore, or 4 seasons, and you might be.

Have a blast.

You can get good deals if you shop around. If you enjoy the nicer resorts, AI can be a more economical way to travel. Keep in mind though that even at the best resorts, the buffet food is only going to be so so- if you can, treat yourselves to a few meals off the resort! And no matter what they tell you at the hotel desk, tip your bartender! Tip him well on the first day and he'll treat you well for your entire stay. Don't tip him and your drinks will be watered down and the service slow.

As far as value, I don't think you can beat Mexico, but the deals you find will depend on where you are traveling from. (And you won't find many last minute bargains over Easter!) I love Huatulco, but its difficult and expensive to get to from some parts of the US.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose del Cabo last October and it was great. I would agree with the running consensus that the buffet food is . . . um, shall we say, "adequate," but the restaurants were excellent. We had access to the restaurants any night we pleased, provided that we either made reservations in advance or that they had plenty of available seating. We also had to rely on the front desk for a few extra business services and they went above and beyond the call of duty. Keep in mind that you'll need a passport for Mexico now, though.
