jakee 1,490 #11 February 20, 2007 QuoteI got -.998. I could very easily be wrong - its a long time since I did any form of maths. Sum of 1/2^n with n from 1 to infinity = 1 (or infinitely close to it anyway). According to this comic e^(i*Pi) = -1 (I'm taking that on faith). Therefore 0.002 + (-1) + 1 = 0.002Do you want to have an ideagasm?
hollyhjb 0 #12 February 20, 2007 Ah, you are right...I didn't really look at the sigma notation very closely, and automatically went to the last thing I did with sigma to infinity (which was a finance equation for a perpetuity where the summation always equals zero). Therefore I assumed zero, where in fact it is 1. And your comic agrees with my calculator."I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
