When I sat next to Jay Inslee on a plane once, the flight attendants referred to him as Mr. Inslee not Congressman Inslee or Representative Inslee. I suppose any of those would be appropriate as well, but they seem unnecessarily awkward.

Not that we should necessarily take our etiquette tips from flight attendants, but it's the only close encounter of the Congressional kind I've had.

I've had several Congressional encounters thus far, it's a small part of my job. While I wouldn't say it's a common occurence, it happens frequently enough that I don't really think much of it anymore. That said, I still usually just call them Mr. or Ms.

I deal with govt people of varying levels from Cabinet level to low level foreign service people on a daily basis at work. Just address them as Mr or Ms./Mrs. and you'll be fine.
