Fallin4U 0 #1 February 7, 2007 This last summer I made my first jump AFF. I now have 16 jumps and I am addicted. Two bizarre things I have noticed that I would love your feedback on. Since I started I cannot avoid having skydiving dreams... what is it like having a 1000 jumps.... do dreams get more placid or more intense? I once had a dream an instructor threw me out of the plane with no rig... I went straight toward the ground and woke up thinking I was at work. Does that mean I thought I was going to hell? Funny, I ended up jumping with that instructor on my next jump and passed my AFF5 that day.

karenmeal 0 #3 February 7, 2007 I've got this semi-re-occurring skydiving dream where I go in with nothing out.. make a huge crater, and then peek over the edge of the crater to make sure that nobody saw me. Then I non-chalantly brush the dirt and grass off me and sneak into the hanger and start packing. Does this mean that I will be attacked by killer monkeys next week? Why would you have to pack if you had nothing out? you pretty sharp for a noob. keep it up. cool pics. i had a recurring dream that lasted from age 7 to about 15. Fall off a mountain and fall for a long time without worry and just kind of bliss o ut before i hit the tops of the pine trees. always pine trees. vivid oversaturated colors. then there was the other one where i am in the 5 and dime buying a gumball and a train piles up outside and i just KNOW that i have to get it cleaned up before my dad gets home. lasted about as long as the other. the only other recurring dream i had, and funny enough, they all went on during the same part of my life, i am running through city streets, fleeing really. now that i look back it reminds me of brooklyn though i have never been. anyway i am running and running and there is a cut scene of like a solid block of something with a channel running through it and there is a bullet shooting down this channel and it is coming for me. just running and runnning. wtf. i liked the base dream better.namaste, motherfucker. hollyhjb 0 #6 February 7, 2007 I died once in a dream where I drove off a cliff. I was some how thrown out of the car, and I could hear the wind getting louder. After saying, "wake up!' to myself about 10 times I thought..."Wow this isn't a dream", and I relaxed. A second later everything went black, and my body was limp. I thought, "This is it, hummm." I tried moving but nothing happened. I woke up quite some time later... 2fat2fly 0 #10 February 7, 2007 I recommend several strong drinks as therapy for that. as a matter of fact, i think I'll have several strong drinks in support.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
SkydiveStMarys 0 #11 February 7, 2007 When I was a DZO, I would have really bad dreams, the kind that make you sit up straight outta bed, after a very busy day of skydiving. Now nothing every happened at my DZ and not even a close call, but those dreams were so vivid. Not sure why I would have these kind of dreams, but after a very busy day of skydiving with many loads all I needed was a crappy night of sleep right?? Funny how that worked. NOT!! pinkfairy 0 #12 February 7, 2007 I had dreams when I was doing my first jumps about planes that crashed, pieces of the plane and blood everywhere. Pretty scary, but I was pretty scared. Now it's just the occational dream where I dream that I'm falling out of a plane, and it's not unpleasant at all, or even one where I dreamed that I was going to do a BASE jump, and the only thing that worried me was that my rig had no emergency handles. The weird thing about those dreams is that I worry in the dream about not being scared. It's like "I should be scared, shouldn't I?" But I don't have that high jump numbers. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
willard 0 #13 February 7, 2007 Ever since I can remember I've had this dream where I'm driving a car with my sister in it and we go straight off a cliff. We both jump out and fly safely to the ground. Who needs airbags! The nightmares one has about things that really did happen are the ones that really mess with your head. iluvtofly 0 #14 February 7, 2007 Even before I started skydiving I would constantly have dreams about flying. Kinda like the whole superman thing. Now my dreams consist of jumping up from the ground and freeflying and tracking. (Even though I have yet to leard how to freefly.)
IFallFast 0 #15 February 7, 2007 I have them all the time. I had a dream a few weeks ago where I deployed my pilot chute and nothin g happened so I reached back grabbed my bridle and kept pulling it (like a clown pulling the scarf out of his sleave) I pulled for about a minute and it just kept coming. I was very calm during the whole thing. then finally clear as day and also very calm, my S&TA says to me you might want to deploy your reserve now. Acknowledging defeat, I pulled the silver handle and landed safely. So yea, the dreams keep coming, at least up until jump 400 or so, I will let you know about 500 when I get there. jcecil 0 #16 February 7, 2007 I've only had two skydiving dreams ever. The first one, my main opened and then split in half. I chopped it, and thats when I noticed one line was wrapped around my harness in a way that the main went no where. I fought for a minute then finally got it free and deployed my reserve, hitting a more or less fully inflated reserve 10 feet above the ground. In my dream, I remember thinking I was going to be in trouble for deploying my reserve so low. The second one was similar, except I threw my pilot chute, nothing happened, PC in tow, and I looked back and a squirrel had his grubby little claw through the closing loop and was laughing at me. So I fought with the squirrel a minute, got rid of him, and my main was finally fully open about the same height above the ground. They more or less opened in both cases just enough that I could walk away.
NWFlyer 2 #17 February 7, 2007 Okay, I guess I should say that *I* never die in my skydiving dreams. My favorite was when I was a student. I deployed and my canopy did open, but I stayed belly to earth. Kept falling then realized ... I'm at 2 grand - I should probably sit up in the harness. So I sit up in the harness but unfortunately, since I've stayed belly to earth for so long, my lines have gotten really really long. I look up at the canopy and evaluate it "Square? Yep. Stable? Yep. Steerable .... uh, maybe not.""There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. jheadley 0 #18 February 7, 2007 I used to have skydiving dreams a lot my first year or so. I'd always wake up on impact. Now I pretty consistently dream about packing...
fallinbear 0 #19 February 7, 2007 I hate talking about this, but all my friends know the situation...so.... Though I have had a couple of skydiving dreams with me in them, the ones without me are the scariest. I say this because i've had 2 separate occurences where I have had bad skydiving dreams about people other than myself and both times, someone very close to me has been hurt or killed. I had bad skydiving dreams for 5 nights in a row prior to the saturday that my best friend femured in and died 51 days later due to complications from the accident. Needless to say...if I have a bad dream about skydiving...my friends know about it.I don't want to make all the decisions because if I screw up, then I can't blame it on you... cjsgrlsx3 0 #20 February 7, 2007 I have had dreams about skydiving but they were all good. Can't really remember what they were about. But my daughter has come up to me about scary dreams of me getting hurt. Pretty vivid ones. She still wants me to go and wants to go to the DZ with me but says it is really scary. She is 7.
