Going to Bogota and Santiago!

Recommended Posts

Looks like work is sending me to South America in a couple of weeks! I should be in Santiago, Chile the week of 29 Jan and Bogota, Colombia the following week. I've never been to either city, so is there anything special I should see/do while I'm there? I should have a day or two to myself in each city.

Thx!

Well you can skydive in Colombia if your day off coinsides with the jump schedule there. If not, there is always Monserrate that you can go check out if you're up to walking up the stairs to the top. The sight is beautiful on a clear day. There are several different things you can do in Bogoata, it depends on what you consider interesting. If you want, I can put you in contact with a friend of mine who lives there and is also a dz.commer. He could definately hook you up on where to go and more importantly, not to go.PM me if you want his contact info.

EDIT: Check out this page. I quickly looked at it but it has some good places to go on it. If anything, at least go to the Andino mall, get something to eat in "zona T" outside of the Andino mall as well as parke 93. Of course, you have to stop and have a beer at the BBC ( Bogota Beer Company) in either zona T or parke 93. The best sushi in Colombia can be found at either one of those locations(my buddy can show you where). Some of the best steak can be found at Andres carne de res, just ask a local and they can tell you about it.

Hey Angry Peppers! check out the Children of the Sky web-page www.childrenofthesky.com where you can see what we are up to in Colombia! There's some white water rafting pictures in Chile too. Let me know when you get in dude, and I'll show you around, introduce you to the fun crowd, and take you to the mad parties. In Santiago there are a couple of young, fun skydivers as well I can put you in contact with... and for jumping you may go down to Pucon to jump with an incredible view of lakes and volcanoes... sweet.

Nice page! I could kick myself and a few other people. I had a skydiving trip planned for Colombia all planned out. The week AFTER 11 Sept 2001. :S I was flying on a pass and they cancelled all passes for some time after. I have been a bit busy since then. One of these days I will find a job there and I will come skydive! ;)

Sounds fabulous!! A wild vacation away sounds awfully nice. (I'm mentally blocking out the "work" part of this anticipated travel.)

Hey, Chris, is the trip still on?? (I'm asking because you were at the wind tunnel last night and you're participating in the Tunnel Challenge on Monday. Those dates don't seem to work with your original travel schedule, unless it's a really quick trip.)
