Slappie 9 #13 January 30, 2007 QuoteBut Rage is gonna be there! That's ALL I care about. And what about my back? Actually RATM is going to reunite for this show. Still the price, the camping, the bs to see one band isn't in it for me. I guess I'm getting old. I'm actually thinking about Van Halen reunion with DLR tour. kelel01 1 #14 January 30, 2007 I know! That's why I want to go. I have lamented the fact that I would never get to see RATM play live, but now I have a shot . . . must ponder this, quickly.
guppie01 0 #15 January 30, 2007 the Coachella website http://www.coachella.com/tickets says that you may be able to purchase tix the day of the event at the door if available. Looks like Rage is only playing on Sunday as well. g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? Lindercles 0 #16 January 30, 2007 Seeing Rage would be nice, but all reports indicate that it's a one time gig, not a reunion. And Tom Morello is currently working on a solo project. How good can it really be? (Although I do dispute the claim that the rest of the line up sucks). Save your money and come to South by Southwest. Put in a mp3 copy of your favorite CD on the iPod, and crank the shit out of it. Go to a men's locker room, find a used sweat towel. Wrapped it around your face as a scarf, then find a really hot sauna. Sit for many many hours until the lights go out. Now while you're listening to all this you need to inhale the acrid smoke of marijuana in large gulps. The whole time fiddle with the volume knob to make the music so loud it's indiscernible from a 747 taking off next to you. Now you just saved yourself airfare, tickets and lodging to hear RATM sort of live. stitch 0 #19 January 30, 2007 A big showcase type music festival in Austin, Tx. It used to be mega-expensive. "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"

Lindercles 0 #21 January 30, 2007 It's a music festival (surprise!). Except instead of one huge venue for two or three days, it takes place throughout Austin at established local venues for a week. There are literally thousands of shows going on. Oh, and it's also a film and interactive festival, too. http://2007.sxsw.com
stitch 0 #22 January 30, 2007 They've cut it back some then, it used to last for the entire week. That's the reason it was so expensive. For one of those passes you wore around your neck to get into all the venues it was like $750 per person. Lindercles 0 #24 January 30, 2007 It's a total of 9 days long, but not all of that is music. If you want the highest badge that will get you into everything, it's $850 if you buy now. The music lasts for 5 days. If you just want the music badge that will get you into all the music shows it's $550, but that's really only worth it if you go to several shows every night all week. But you don't have to buy the badge, you can buy tickets to individual shows since they take place at local venues. However, many bands either come before the official event, or stick around after and play shows not associated with SXSW that you can get into for much cheaper. That's been my strategy for the last few years.

I only went along to see a couple of bands. Nowadays you can probably just pay a cover per band. But a few years ago you had to buy a pass. This isn't Bonaroo or some other outdoor festival. Camping isn't included. The bands are spread out all over Austin. I don't know, I went with some freinds in the music industry.
