The inches thing doesn't work for me anyhow. The waist on jeans I wore in high school were only 1" smaller than the jeans I wear now, despite my being 20 years older and 70 lbs heavier. I've got plenty of weight to lose, but apparently won't be from my waist.

weird. I'm the opposite. I don't need to lose pounds, I need to gain muscle & lose fat. The most obvious place for fat accumulation on men is around the waist, an inch below the navel. Unless you just keep buckling your belt lower & lower to avoid the beer belly, but then you might get plumber-butt syndrome.:D

I have been taking pictures of myself wearing just shorts every Friday.

Unfortunately I was "bad" last weekend so probably not much improvement this week.

But still, I'm finding that taking a weekly picture is a hell of a motivator.

Gotta laugh at people posting how thin they are in this thread & so the loss contest is unfair. You have just under 2 weeks before the start, get eating:D. Or you could get ripped instead for the challenge. I'm sure you could improve a lot on whateer you've got if you are in any way elligible for this.
