Perverting the course of justice, whilst being an offence in itself will act as an aggravating factor to the original offence and be considered when sentancing occurs. As for leniency in sentencing, I somehow doubt it. She's not exactly going to get sympathy from the judge for fleeing the scene and for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
