The 8.2 (according to the USGS) has indeed spawned tsunami warnings...Alaska, Hawai'i, and California on this side of the ocean, and Hokkaido, Japan and that area. There was a small tsunami spotted in Japan, but not terribly big (I imagine the 4 inch wave was what was spotted.). I doubt it will be anything to worry about in Japan, let alone the US. 'Course, I've been wrong before...

It is weird, though, to have a tsunami warning issued for California...

I'm in Alaska, and I just heard on the radio that the warning was called off. They said that hawaii might still be in effect, but te west coast will most likely be alright...

Not to worry my dear... I moved all of them out of the water this winter....thay are all at my house right now waiting for improvement in the weahter... like melting off the foot of snow on them;)

Plus.... When I bought my house.. I did so not in a river valley that would be subject to flooding... I am up in the foothills of the Cascades... it would have to be a tsunami from an earth killing asteroid that would get me here.

Michelle its not so uncommon, there are paleo-tsunami deposits all along the Pacific Coast...And the LA Basin is subject to devastation by one. ANY Large EQ anywhere in the Pacific Basin could wipe out Venice and Marina Del Rey and other low lying areas along the coast.

Great to hear from you!:)My 1st thoughts were of Cape Dissapointment & it being wicked surf on a good day as "Your playground" to being with.
Bad news sells & the bulletin sounded bad although little news of it gave hint that it was a "lesser event". 1st news was the tone of Armagoddon then it was described as a Swell.??
No new is in fact GOOD news.:)
(or maybe I'm getting bored in Central PA:ph34r:)

DOOOD if you think Speed diving is a rush.. you should come do some WHITEWATER sailing across the Columbia River Bar in my little 22' Sloop....even on a calm day with the ebb tide there are usually 8 to 10 ft swells on the bar.... NOW.. when a little wind gets up... out of the NW... the main channel is running to the SW so you get this great crossing and breaking seas action.. and the waves build to 20' or more... YEEE HAAAA..
The Coasties are not the only ones who get to have fun out there....:ph34r:Check their videos:P

Want to come play in my playground??????

That will cure the boredom..
