PhreeZone 20 #1 January 12, 2007 I tend not to do business on eBay but this one has me confused. I'm selling something and I've got a Buyit Now price on it. It sat with out a single bid on the item but about a dozen watchers with less then 6 hours left on it. Then out of no where someone came through and used the Buy it Now and bought it. By the time I went though the process to send them an invoice for it their eBay account was showing as not registered anymore. So I now have to dispute the relisting fees and hope to get another buyer for it. What was odd was at least one of the watchers contacted me saying they had questions but before I could reply they saw it was bought by a scammer. Why the hell would a scammer use the BuyitNow on an account that had 0 feedback and then close the account within an hour or two?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

davedlg 0 #3 January 12, 2007 I'm guessing it was an attempt to try the old, "I'll send you much more money then you are asking and you send back the remainder" scam. He probably pulled it on someone else and got reported, hence the account deletion.

He probably pulled it on someone else and got reported, hence the account deletion. That's most likely what happened. If Ebay deleted the account following some complaint they should consider your auction null and void IMHO. If not they should at least have some safeguards in place to prevent pranksters from spoiling other people's auctions. Cheers, Vale
gonzalesna 0 #5 January 12, 2007 I had the same thing happen to me on the last item I sold. The account didn't get deleted for about a week and a half though and the account had a history of nonpaying bidding... I don't know if it was just some 'tard or someone trying to be a dick and cost me $ and time. Either way, it pissed me off, but I relisted it and sold it. The fees weren't much, so I didn't waste the time trying to get back my $2.50Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
Gato 0 #6 January 12, 2007 It's also poosible the joker didn't actually have the money and decided to bail out while he could. Remember, you can set up your auctions so that people with X-number of feedbacks cannot bid. Ebay admin should be aware of all the details, and if what you say is true, they will probably waive the seller's fees for you. Best of luck, GatoT.I.N.S.
