OHIO STATE=GATOR BAIT

Recommended Posts

the BCS system has flaws but it is better than nothing, simply saying one team was undefeated and the other had a loss just doesn't hold water, under that theory Newberry College (who can't beat some high school teams) should be ranked, they went 11-2

one challenge with College football is you have to bring your "A" game every week, hooray Boise did that, but their "A" game wouldn't be enough to beat some teams "B" game

there are 3-4 other teams that could have been in the championship game if they had brought their "A" game - LSU, USC, Louisville, Michigan are easy picks
end the bowl affiliations and some of this problem will go away

i'd love to see a 4 team playoff, not that it would eliminate the controversy but it would be fun to watch

so we have football controversy, now we can watch the NBA thugs or college bball
Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

We showed the world we are the champs

We???
What position you play?? How much game time did you get?? Did you score??

Exactly how did you contributite to the victory??

So Your team won a football game, And you think somehow a riot is justified??:S

I will never understand Sports Fans. [:/]

I agree. What a fucking idiot.

I think im well within my right to say WE. Im a student at the University of Florida and I went to every home game and one away game this season. The position I play is devoted fan and the only reason I couldnt go to the Championship was because I couldnt afford it but me and all the other Gators were there in spirit. My tuition and fees have helped, in very small part, to build this football team. While I wasnt on the field last night, I am a Florida Gator (my acceptance letter told me so) and WE are the National Champions.

That went out the window after me and every other Gator out there were told how badly we were gonna get anally raped by the unbeatable Ohio State University for 37 straight days. So screw being gracious WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS and we sent all those cocky OSU fans who thought all they had to do was show up and they would win what Florida Football is all about.

Obviously not as an English Major.

Or minor, from the appalling state of the use of the language displayed.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

So, it's better to lower yourself to someone else's level than to rise above. OK, I get it. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :|

Ethnocentrism at it's best:P

I'm a Buckeye, I was pulling for our team even though i warned my friends that FLA wasn't going to be an easy team to beat, and I'm still a Buckeye. Our guys didn't play their best and they take the blame for the outcome. I haven't heard one of them yet try to blame the loss on anything other than themselves and for that I am proud to have them represent my school.

GO BUCKS!:)

I can't imagine your tuition money has anything to do with the team.

If it is at all like how Georgia's football program is operated, you can thank the season ticket holders and the rest of the donors to the football fund. That is where the team's money comes from.

Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me!

The U. of Alabama's athletic department's budget is entirely self-sustained from ticket sales, souvenirs and licensing fees, apparel, and bowl payouts. They even paid out a cool million to the academic side to help out, which is a bit more than chump change... :P

Alright everyone lets just relax for a minute. Im not sure if some of you are just unaware of the realities of college sports, particularly football, but being an in your face, asshole, "look at me", diehard fan is what being a college football fan is all about.

People have been saying on these forums for all 37 days that the Gators were matched up against the Bucks that we (YES I SAID WE!!!) were destined for horrible failure. My slightly drunken post was a response to all the doubters and people out there that I have argued tooth and nail with for over month in the Bonfire.

I am a Florida Gator and will always say "WE" won the National Championship despite what anyone says. Although in hindsight I will admit that my tuition probably doesnt have any impact on the Team. However I have purchased game tickets and more merchandise then anyone should ever own so I have contributed.

That's just it. Florida lost, Boise State did not. In every other sport I can think of, an undefeated season is a championship season. Div IIA can manage a playoff, but 1A can't? A few years back, Brigham Young won the title solely by going undefeated. The voters pussed out this year when they could have made a statement. Still, Boise State can claim to be better than everyone they played. Florida can't claim to be better than Auburn. In a proper championship game, I imagine Florida would beat Boise State, but in the absence of that game, I'll tip my hat to the objective zero in the loss column rather than subjective rankings. If Florida thinks they're better than Boise State, they should prove it on the field rather than in their ability to win votes.

Its a shame that Boise State isnt gonna get at least a chance at the title. Their a really good team and defintely put on the best game that most of us college sports fans had ever seen. Its sad that their isnt a playoff and they wont get a chance to at least prove themselves.

If I remember right, every national champion from the SEC since 1992 has blown out their opponent. I'd have to double check, but I believe they all won by double-digit scores. When they're on, they're really on!

The SEC is the best conference in the United States, they have the most teams ranked in the top 25 and the reigning National Champion. The Big East had the most bowl wins this season but failed to have the true juggernaut teams that were good enough to be National Champs. The Big Ten's abysmal performance this Bowl Season will hopefully make all those people out there that say the Big Ten is faster or more physical than the SEC pipe down for once. The Big Ten brought their best team to Arizona and the SEC brought theirs. We all saw what happened, it was an annihilation.

Gotta say the Buckeye coach made THE WORST COACHING CALL EVER trying for that 4th down right before the half on their own 29 yard line.

I actually disagree with that. The Buckeyes had hands down the best offense in the country this season. If Jim Tressel didnt have enough faith that his #1 ranked offense and Heisman winning quarterback could gain 1 yard then they had no business even playing in that game. Fact of the matter is...the Gators brought with them an intensity and fire that the Buckeyes lacked. Blame it on the 51 day break OSU had after the Michigan game if you will but what lost it for the Buckeyes was definitely not a lack of talent.

Speak for yourself. For me taking way too many classes, studying late, rising early, doing my best in all my classes, and enjoying a bit of the social life around campus without making an ass of myself or my school is what being a college student is all about.

That is what is known as "Script Ohio". It was started in '36 as just another band formation and has been at every game since. It is considered quite an honer to "dot the i". Golfing great Jack Nickolaus had the honer at the Nov.18 OSU-Michigan game. He had always wanted to do that, but knew that to ask was unacceptable. It was a very emotional day for him.
Sousaphone players dedicate years of hard work to have the honer.
The drum major has the hardest job on Script Ohio. His timing and precision have to be spot on, or band members will be running into each other (cut lips, lost teeth, etc. are commonB|), turning out of place, and the whole thing will look like so much wet spaghetti.

That does it, I'll pick on people and cut up in a joking way, but I usually don't mean it but now you have pissed me off. There is not, never, no way, ever a good reason to be a slightly drunk college student. Now get busy and get yourself totally drunk dammit!

What about OSU's cheerleaders? I don't recall seeing them at all. On the other hand, we were treated to the Florida cheerleaders about every three or four plays.

Not only that, but this coming fall season will see plently of match-ups between coaches who have won national championships and a whole shitload of games between coaches who have won 10 games in a season and coached in a BCS bowl.

This fall there will be 4 SEC coaches who won a national championship. No other conference has more. B|
