Saw this at CES, EVERY skydiver will want this...

Recommended Posts

Saw some guy last night at the Wall Street Journal party at the Wynn wearing this 2-gig video-wrist camera.

Trying to get one to fly in the tunnel with it in a few hours. Will let you know. But it was VERY cool to play with last night.

Of course, I was partially drunk, so maybe it wasn't as cool as I thought... But it still seemed pretty cool.
The camera actually snaps down so it sits on the wrist - the photo shows him holding it up. He's patented it and everything. It seems really, really cool. I could imagine jumping with it. Put a wide-angle lens on it, land, drop the video right into your laptop...

Cool stuff.

I'll try and shoot some video with it in the tunnel - will let you know.

It's an interesting idea, but wouldn't it pretty much lose it's appeal if you were doing anything but a tandem (which they already have wrist mounts for, btw)?

I don't think so - the whole base unit swivels - so you can shoot outward, as well - it's not just about looking in at yourself. That's what got me.

Yeah, but what I meant was, if you're doing anything other than just falling flat you're arms are going to be moving, making it nearly impossible to get anything consistently in frame. Even if it can swivel, you're not going to have the freedom (or time) to swivel it.

Wake me up when I can get a wireless bulletcam on my helmet sending 720p video to a solid state recorder in my jumpsuit pocket.

Or beam it to a ground receiving station to record it and show it live so all on the ground can see the jump as it happens.

Why should it "send" anywhere? A mini-SD card can easily hold 7 minutes of 1080i video, and is way smaller than modern bullet-cams. Save the money and the extra battery and just save it directly on the camera.

Hey, mine's not THAT unrealistic. Samsung's got a wireless bullet cam setup on their sports camcorder. ALLEGEDLY the wireless version has updated bits and much better video quality. we'll see.

that works too! I'd rather see it use a Memory Stick Pro Duo, though, just because I have several 2GB ones :D

What device shoots 1080i to an SD card and holds 7 mins of vid?
