upndownshop 0 #26 January 8, 2007 QuoteQuoteMy first jump was 12-12-1984, at least that is the first one I can remember. I was born into the sport and my mother made about 25 jumps with me before I was born. Thus explaining why i went into the fetal position my first 5 static line jumps. See, not THAT is funny stuff right there! I have to give Mel from the Pink Mafia credit for that one. She responded to this post I did 2 years ago about my first jump. I thought it was pretty damn funny too. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1386406#1386406
LyraM45 0 #27 January 9, 2007 First jump on my 18th birthday-- October 9th, 2001. So technically I've been in the sport a bit over five years, but I had to quit for two years or so while I've been in college and just started back up again last year. I graduate this May--- weekend warrior, here I come!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
MagicGuy 0 #28 January 9, 2007 Did a tandem in August 05. Did another in May 06. Started AFF in mid-July of 06. I wouldn't say that I started skydiving until July of 06, though. That's when I started hitting it heavy and jumping every weekend.

Unstable 9 #32 January 9, 2007 I started back in High School, my senior year in 2002. First jump on the day after I turned 18. The funny thing was that by the time I graduated HS, I had my own rig (parents had no idea) and a coach rating. Not bad huh? A lot of jumpers at our DZ are College Students, and I actually shared an evening class with one of them - so he assumed me a 20-something college guy and I just let him believe that. I remember being grouchy because I couldn't jump because it was my graduation. So I've been jumping for some 5 years, but I had a 2 year break - now I'm back at College and jumping away. So 5 years - 2(no jumps) = 3 years of active jumping.=========Shaun ==========

Then I really started crank'n. 93 I did 100. I was hooked. so other then 10 months for a liquified femur I have been a full timer I can't get enough. Now I live on the DZ. It's so cool.HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
plowdirt 0 #40 January 9, 2007 Ahh you just made me remanis, but for me it's how long havn't I, had the sweet smell of packing hanger come over me like the sun in my eyes. Seen the look of good friends at the door before exit. The welcoming of new friends at a distant DZ. My name over the loud speeker saying come to manifest The feeling of ahhh yea here we go as I'm doing a gear check at 10K, The smell of my helmet, the dreded happy pack to get on the next load, How long have I been skydiving??? Not long enough.

stitch 0 #43 January 9, 2007 When I was a stunt double in the movie "Point Break", we had 1 take where we were in freefall for 11.5 minutes. They edited that scene for content. jumpdr 0 #45 January 10, 2007 Did my first static line ground school in 1996 when I started University but didn't get to jump because of the weather and never made it back to the DZ to do it. So my first actual S/L jump was in 2001 where I managed 4 in 2 weeks (shitty UK weather and also the fact I sprained both ankles on the 4th jump!). Attempted AFF in Sebastian, FL in 2003 where I managed to get to level 5 and a few repeats before becoming totally demoralised and ran out of cash and time. Finally banged through 8 AFF levels in 8 jumps last year. Now have 68 jumps, B licence, new rig on the way with at least 4 weeks solid jumping planned in Perris at various times this year as well as jumping every weekend at the DZ here in Cyprus which is about 5 minutes drive away.Oh, and I'm going to be the new club chairman! Woo hoo - I finally made it and yet the journey is only beginning!! Skydiving is more than a sport and more than a job: skydiving is pure passion and desire which will fill a lifetime.
