I just received notification from PayPal that someone has purchased a PS2 game station on my account..... Although you may not have been the victim of identity theft yet, following up on that email may make this a self-fulfilling prophecy. Personally, I haven't logged into my account on Paypal for my last few "charitable contributions." When I finished the same thing yesterday, I got a message "Our records show you have a Paypal account. Next time log in for faster easier service". I promptly told it to fuck off. pfloyd 0 #6 January 9, 2007 That sucks girl, one thing that you could/could have done was to change the password every month or so to help thwart would be phisher/hackers. Also make sure that a password has a combination of numbers and letters, and avoid using any dictionary word(make words up) because there are programs out there that randomly go through every combination of word/words and numbers in the dictionary. That takes time but a nerdy hacker/phisher has plenty of time on their hands since they have no life or friends. Goo to squaretrade and complain, i don't think you will be held liable. Do NOT click on any link on that e-mail. Goto Paypal by typing paypal.com into your browser directly. Look for the LOCK at lower right hand corner of your browser to make sure it is a secure page. Log-in there and check account history. Most likely, The notification was just a phising scam. If you did click on any link there and give them your User Name and password (By trying to log in), Immediately goto the REAL paypal and change your password. I alos reccomend Downlaoding Adaware and Spysweeper (Free programs) and running them on your system to get rid of any spyware that may be on your system. You can also forward the emails to spoof@paypal.com. It has been my expierence that paypal can be a pain in the butt to get on the phone.
