Blowing Chunks

How do you get ride of the excited sick feeling?

When I did my first jump I was so excited I felt like I could blow chunks. I didn't but how do you get rid of the feeling?

Just go blow him....then brush your teeth. You will be fine.

If its a tandem jump, blow the chunks during freefall!

Really, though, just keep jumping. It will go away. The ginger suggestion is a good one.

Had you eaten prior to your skydive? I bet you didn't for fear of being sick, huh? Well, the adrenline dump will turn your stomach.

Same if you ate poorly or weren't well hydrated. Were you hung over?

Beyond that, jump more, you'll get over it.

So much adrenaline, maybe shock? I don't know....but not a deturrent thats for sure. Come on spring!B|

Don't throw up please. I am that guy the DZ who wanders around all weekend and usually winds up cleaning the barf off the student gear once it has dried. No fun. I usually do it once a summer and at LEAST once during WFFC. :|

I was packing tandems at WFFC a year or two ago, and the guy I was packing for had a little 90 pound girl toss her cookies under canopy. As she got ready to hurl - the TM did a hard turn to divert the flow of vomit away from himself and the gear. She turned her head to the Opposite side, and upon landing, not a single drop was visible. I pack the tandem, get ready to put it in the container (Vector 2 tandem) and to my horror, I found EVERY DANG DROP made it in the main container. Didn't miss a drop. I still can't figure out how that little girl torqued herself around that far to have such great accuracy.
Oh, please don't take a whizz when you get excited under canopy. I've cleaned that as well. I felt so bad for the student I bought him lunch and got him a towel at the local grocery store.

A bit of fresh peppermint or a small piece of fresh (best) or candied ginger. Chew slowly, spit out what you don't want to swallow.
Aggie Dave is right on about the adrenaline dump though.
I'm confused... is Chunks his roomate or his dog?:S

True story.
A video guy and I up at East Troy years ago watched a male dog doing what male dogs do sometimes.
Greg smiles and says to me; "Wouldn't you like to be able to do that Gene? I know I would." I'd been waiting years to use this line... "I don't know Greg, You might want to try petting him a little bit first."

Drink plenty of water throughout the day before your jump (but please see my comment on Not taking a whizz) - I think most of the students I've seen toss their lunches were dehydrated - especially on those 90+ hot summer days, wearing a thick student jumpsuit. take care of yourself.

Hadn't eaten a thing that morning.

Ding, we have a winner.

Next time eat a decent breakfast. Nothing too heavy, nothing too light. Just something that you like. You have to have food in your stomach.

Later, in AFF, you'll realize that you need the food for energy and so you can concentrate. Same with water intake.

My gut starts turning on the walk to the plane. By the time we're halfway to altitude it's like a cage full of hampsters on crack. Seems strange to me, though, that as soon as I get to the door and look down it quits and I'm fine after that.

I'm pretty sure Chunks is the DZ dog, but I wouldn't put money on it. Hey! New thread idea!

Thanks for all the answers. Very helpful.

And BTW, where I'm from the term blowing chunks is another way of saying...puking, getting sick, etc. You sick fuckers, lol.
