adventurechick 0 #1 December 28, 2006 Just got some pictures back from our crazy caving/spelunking day!! We got turned around in the cave for a little bit, but it just added to the fun. We were in the cave for a good 7 hours and had a steep, long, night hike back to the car.... I have to say, this was the highlight of my christmas vacation! adventurechick 0 #5 December 28, 2006 It's called Espey cave, but there are no maps of it, and we were technically trespassing, but who's watching?! It was about 2 hours away from Nashville in the middle of nowhere. A good friend who is a climber heard about the cave and gave us some crazy directions to get there. adventurechick 0 #10 December 28, 2006 No toxic waste, but we did find this though! It's a time capsule... there were only a few notes in it over the years, but there was a pen and paper in it, so we wrote some notes in it. selbbub78 0 #14 December 28, 2006 Where's your helmet!!! When caving you should always wear a helmet, then again you did say spelunking... What state is this in? I take it that this is a 'real cave', and not a commercial cave? If so what state's it in? Caving's where it's at! Started doing that in 98, ironically it got me into skydiving Looks like it was a good time, glad you could see my 'underground world'... These are a couple of pics from a few different caves... I have a lot of maps of the caves in Tennessee, alabama and georgia since i frequently go to them "Women fake orgasms - men fake whole relationships" – Sharon Stone "The world is my dropzone" (wise crewdog quote) "The light dims, until full darkness pierces into the world."-KDM

Most caves have them in an "entrance" room. Not necessarily in the beginning of the cave, but just a room that most everyone fequents on their travels. Icon134 0 #18 December 28, 2006 I've been Caving in Berea, KY with my sister, cousin, and some other friends of hers. We were exploring caves on private property but we did have permission of the owner. I like crawling around in dark places. cocheese 0 #19 December 28, 2006 I was in the cave in Jamaica that had a reggea band in it and a little bar. Some James Bond movie scene was filmed there in the cave lake.

willard 0 #21 December 28, 2006 Glad you had a good time! I've spent many days exploring the underground world in OH, NY, PA, WV, AL,GA, KY, TN, etc. Now that you have had a taste of spelunking, give caving a try!. What's the diff, you ask? Simple....cavers rescue spelunkers! Just as with skydiving, in caving there is a safe way and a not-so-safe way. For more info check out www.caves.org for a listing of caving clubs in your area. All love to introduce people to the sport and most have loaner gear that costs you nothing to use except a few batteries. I've attached a photo of one of my favorite trips. That ledge by my feet drops of almost 600 feet straight down. Any questions feel free to contact me. I am very proud to be the secretary and activities chair of the Cleveland Grotto of the National Speleological Society. Ours is the oldest continually active chapter, now in our 63rd year. selbbub78 0 #22 December 28, 2006 Well Said!!! I couldn't agree more. There are great caves in every state, and each offer a great experience. In one of the caves that I survey in, we keep finding teeth, and bones of mastadons. Other caves offer tricky and challenging passages, and each cave is always SO MUCH FUN as long as you're safe about what you're doing!!!! I know on non jumping days (and even evenings), I tend to take skydivers caving. They always love it and ask for me...
