Just one perspective I guess. I saw a headliner in a search showing cheerleading, etc. :S

I noticed Heli Skiiing on that list.. yup... I think that one really rates up there....almost bit the big one up in BC years ago... back country skiing is crazy enough but avalance hazards are just WAY off the scale in some of the places we went...they were nearly constant on one trip...:S

There is a snow boarder here who said she has lost more friends than your avg skydiver has seen.

Back country avalanches.

DUDE.. its a bad scene... I gave up that shit when I realized I was not going to be lucky forever. I have been in three of them luckily in 2 cases I was at the very top and skied out of danger without falling and being engulfed, both of those were on Heli Ski trips in BC. The third was back country in the Cascades and knowing I was in a relatively safe area...it was just a sudden whoosh coming down a slot.. very powdery and I was in the edge of the trees.. but with that much snow pounding me at that speed it was taking brances off the trees around me... being on the edge of it was the only thing that saved me.. but even still it was unnerving.

last week i read a statistic that said skydiving and skiing both have on average 35 fatalities a year. don't know how accurate that is and it could have been limited to the states only.

But a LOT more people ski than skydive.

Ping pong is more dangerous than hunting! There must be a lot of really serious ping pong players out there...

I doubt there too many fatalities in ping-pong, though. I wonder where billiards comes in?

Wahey! Freediving is number twoB| Though I can't say it's close to BASE jumping, I think freediving is actually one of the safest sports as long as you know how to do it.
