Amazon 7 #28 December 25, 2006 I noticed Heli Skiiing on that list.. yup... I think that one really rates up there....almost bit the big one up in BC years ago... back country skiing is crazy enough but avalance hazards are just WAY off the scale in some of the places we went...they were nearly constant on one trip... Amazon 7 #31 December 25, 2006 QuoteThere is a snow boarder here who said she has lost more friends than your avg skydiver has seen. Back country avalanches. DUDE.. its a bad scene... I gave up that shit when I realized I was not going to be lucky forever. I have been in three of them luckily in 2 cases I was at the very top and skied out of danger without falling and being engulfed, both of those were on Heli Ski trips in BC. The third was back country in the Cascades and knowing I was in a relatively safe area...it was just a sudden whoosh coming down a slot.. very powdery and I was in the edge of the trees.. but with that much snow pounding me at that speed it was taking brances off the trees around me... being on the edge of it was the only thing that saved me.. but even still it was unnerving.
