PilotLevi 0 #1 January 28, 2007 i'm buying a used rig and it says its perfect for someone 5'8. Do i have to be concern when I 5'11?e Thanks in advance, Levie
councilman24 37 #2 January 28, 2007 Three inches in height MAY make a big difference. What differs on the rig is the length of the harness, essentially your torso length, and what amounts to the waist and chest size. My 5'4" wife jumped one of my rigs last year and I'm 5'11". But is is small on me and big on her. It may work and it may not. Rigs don't have to be perfect and people like rigs to fit differently. If it fits a fat 5.8 and your a normal 5'11" it might be alright but not perfect. Have your self measured according to the instructions for that brand rig. Then either find out the complete size measurements or the serial number of the rig for sale and call the manufactuer. They should give you an idea of the fit. IF you can't try it on.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
Buffdiver 0 #3 January 28, 2007 As councilman24 said, get the serial # on the container/harness. Call the manufacturer and they can tell you what specs the person who originally ordered the rig was built for. these measurements can vary though. When i bought my first rig, it was built for someone 4 inches shorter than me and a little bit slimmer build. due to my shorter abdomen, the rig fits me fine. If youre buying used, dont be anal about a "perfect" fit.
darkwing 5 #4 January 28, 2007 I didn't change height, but I did change weight by 40 pounds and didn't have an issue with my rig. As said above, the real answer is you can't be sure unless you put it on. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
