sammyc 0 #1 January 28, 2007 I have bought a few bits and peices of skydiving equipment when they have come up cheap, I currently have a Javelin NJ and a sabre 135 that i would like to buy a reserve and make a full system. I understand from reading old threads that the NJ will just about take a sabre 135. My question is what would be a good size and make of reserve to buy to make the fit as good as possible. I'm thinking a pd126 might make the main tray just a little too tight. All advice greatfully received.

sammyc 0 #3 January 28, 2007 Yer, checked that out and it doesn't look promising but a lot of people are saying they have had sabre 135's in NJ's.
kris2extreme 0 #4 January 28, 2007 a sabre 135 and a pd126r will be VERY VERY tight... FWIW. I pack a cobalt 135 in a NJ with a Tempo 120 reserve... it's pretty damn tight with a long ass closing loop, and both of those canopies have a lower pack volume than the canopies you are looking to put into yours. sammyc 0 #5 January 28, 2007 That was my point, that a pd126 would be too tight, i was thinking a 120 and looking for advice on one that packs small. Thanks for the input.
pjc 0 #6 January 28, 2007 Are you sure a sabre 135 is a good idea at your jump numbers? If I were you I'd stick with the safire 149 for a while yet Edit to add: Speed 2000 reserves pack very small too!
sammyc 0 #7 January 28, 2007 Paul, we both know you have 80 jumps not 480 and that the head down picture is just something you pulled off the net. For the grown ups amongst us the rig is not for me to jump, well not this week anyway.

PhreeZone 20 #10 January 28, 2007 There are a few issues to consider when looking at "low volume" reserves. First is are they low volume since they are smaller then another manufactor's canopy? For example Precision and PD use two different methods to find a canopies size and a Raven 120 is a lot smaller then a PD 126. Another thing to consider is are they low volume since they do not have the reenforcing on them that other canopies hav. Some of the Tempos on the market do not have near the reenforcement on them that other canopies have so they are slightly mopre prone to failing in overspeed conditions then other canopies are. Are you also looking at putting a CYPRES in the rig? If so that is even less room in the reserve container to fill with canopy.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skytash 0 #11 January 28, 2007 I've got a tempo 120 in the NJ that used to be home to my Spectre 135, before I sold the main. It fit a Cypress too. Without the Cypress my rigger had been able to fit my old Swift in it, but as I wanted an AAD, I had to move to a different reserve. When I got my Odyssey NJ, Sunpath packed the temp 120 and Spectre 135 into that too. I now have a 120 in the Odyssey and no main the the old NJ. tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion.
