skydivegirl 0 #3 December 21, 2006 So? I'm amazed at the number of people that think Alabama is one big cow pasture. Birmingham is an awesome city! I had more fun when I lived there than I did in college! ArmyMedic, you'll want to go to the Five Points area or the Lakeview area. There are great bars and restaurants at both. You'll see Five Points if you look at a map... and Lakeview is on the other side of St. Vincents Hospital.Pink Mafia Sis #

That's pretty much what I said in the other forum, except I didn't know about the Lakeview area... Wish I was joining you guys this time. When I moved from there about 3 years ago, Lakeview was up & coming. Five Points was more my old stomping ground. I *really* miss Surin West. They have the best Sushi ever!! Birmingham is a cess pool. a little town trying to be a big city and starting by bringing in the worst parts of the city first.... I didn't really like Birmingham either. My hometown Huntsville is a lot cleaner and a better place to live. I moved to B'ham for jobs. The one problem I hated the most was the traffic during rush hours. Not only that, but B'ham's city council and mayor are the worst combination of city politics I have ever seen. A bunch of do-nothing idiots that squabble over every little thing. I moved 30 miles east to a small quiet area and commuted to work. That commute was the easiest of all the highways leading to B'ham (I did the research). Now I stay at home and take care of the baby. I'm damned if I'm going to work in that city again. It has a few bright spots though and I do at least a couple of demo jumps in and around the city every year. It's okay to visit, but not live in. There was a time when Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham were evenly matched. Today, Nashville and Atlanta have boomed and Birmingham's left behind. It all starts with the shitheads in the mayor and city council offices. Then again, when I lived there I lived in a nice area, had a fun job, and lots of fun friends. I'm sure that helped shape my opinion of the city. It was damn fun!
