Never Thought This Would Happen

Recommended Posts

Tonight after I talked with my mom more about skydiving and the training I want to do and future plans to volunteer for airdrop assist (after I graduate from school) my mom actually told me she was proud of me. I have not heard those words uttered from her all year ever since I started this sport, and it definitely brought tears to my eyes.

Yeah parents are like that a lot with this sport. Took mine some getting used to but then I always had them wondering. I even got to dock on my dad finally during his first tandem a few years back, he was 68 at the time. I guess something about retirement changed him. Maybe one day you'll get to do it with your mom;)

<attempting to halt the ugly, demented turn the thread is going...> :P

That's fantastic Gail! I'm pretty fortunate in that my Mom was supportive (probably just biting her hand) since day one. I did my first jump on Mother's Day, after all! :)

She has every reason to be proud of you. You are a kick-ass skydiving sister and you make us all proud! B|

Big hugs and pats on back girl!

Have you herad of Remote Area Medical (RAM)?

http://www.ramusa.org/

They do medical assistance to backwoods areas that don't get regular service and do airdrops and parachuting into places setting up medical services. You don't have to be a doctor to participate...they always need support services to go along with the doctors, dentists, etc.

dBattman is a member and can tell you more details.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

My dad is kinda neutral... gives the usual whuffo comment... "Why would you ever want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" I always reply with a different smart ass answer... the next one will be because someone farted in the plane...:D:D

My mom first said she didn't want to know when I was jumping till after I was back on the ground. (Of course, I called her right before I jumped:D) Since then, she's made a tandem out in Perris and wants to jump again.
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
