Joolee 0 #1 May 10, 2001 Hello everyone,I thought I would tell you a little story before asking my question. Last year eight jumpers from Scotland decided it would be a good idea to drive from Glasgow to Empuriabrava for the Christmas Boogie. We set out on a snowy boxing day in a van with no windows, no seats at the back, and a bottle of Whisky. The journey took about 36 hours non-stop, and eveyone agreed that we would never do it again. To top everything, on the way back we were stopped by French police, who did a thorough search of the van, and shortly afterwards, when the exhaust blew up, realised that they had stuck a plastic bag in the exhaust pipe. We had left Empuriabrava at 9.30am one day and arrived back to Glasgow at 7.30 the following evening. This year things will be different!Has anyone been out to Empuriabrava at the xmas Boogie and flown from the UK? I know its a bit early to be thinking about it, but I was wondering how cheap the flights are? Any other suggestions for getting there at Christmas time?Anyone had a worse experience trying to get to a Boogie????Thanks, Julie
Emma 0 #2 May 10, 2001 Hello Joolee!I drove down to Empuria at Easter this year. It took us 12 hours from arrival at Calais so we were really caning it! I woke up at one point and looked over the driver's shoulder to see 120mph on the speedo......as we appraoched hair pin bends....Just like terminal velocity i spose...Anyway...at Xmas I actually took a plane with Ryanair. I believe these guys are the cheapest, we paid about £100 for a flight to Barcelona from Stanstead, but then you add on costs for parking at the airport (about £40 for the week per car) and a taxi between 4 to Empuria (ok, we should have got the train but we couldn't be arsed ) so it can add up if you aren't careful.I have heard runours of flights for £30 if you keep your eyes peeled though.Good luck,e
gus 1 #3 May 10, 2001 Hi Julie,We got our flights from go-fly.com for about £75 return from Stansted to Barcelona, then picked up a car from easyRentaCar for about £100 for the 10 days - bargain! I know that RyanAir fly to Perpingan (which is much closer) pretty cheaply if you book at the right time.Good luck, maybe I'll see you there!Gus
will_wheeler 0 #4 October 20, 2006 Fly there with Ryanair. I am flying from Bournemoth to Girona for the boogie and its costing me £65 return. There is a Sarbus coach from Girona airport to Empuriabrava that runs 3 times a day for £12 each way. I don't know what the price of flights will be like from Glasgow but i am sure they will be pretty cheep! http://www.skydiveempuriabrava.com/informacio_com_arribar_avio.php?id=2 http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/I can now confirm that skydiving IS better than owning a car... skyflygirl1 0 #5 November 30, 2006 Hiya, Flying from Bournemouth to Gerona with Ryanair. Got the flights when they'd just been reduced £34.00 return, can't get better than that really. . . Will be doing the hire car thing from the airport, didn't pay for that so can't give you a guide price.Fear is Temporary, Regret is Forever! www.myspace.com/byasa
caspar 0 #6 November 30, 2006 ah thats gay, we booked our flights 2 months ago or so and look how much we paid! bollocks!"When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."
caspar 0 #7 November 30, 2006 also if its helps anyone, i spoke to the main security dude in heathrow terminal (2 i think) when i went through there about a month ago. i specifically asked him about taking rigs as carry on, he said as long as it was within size restrictions its totally fine. if heathrow are cool then a small airport like bournemouth must be fine with rigs."When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." krissy23 0 #8 November 30, 2006 This has been said before but the official policy from Ryanair if you fly with them from any UK destination is that rigs are not allowed as carry-on luggage. You may be lucky and get your rigs past security (which is proving nearly impossible given current carry-on restrictions) but be prepared to check them in. If security are unsure and decide to call the airline you will then have to check them. Coming back from Spain however is usually a totally different story as the security guys at Girona see nothing unusual about a rig as carry-on due to the high numbers they see every day. caspar 0 #9 November 30, 2006 when i went though heathrow a month back, the restrictions had on luggage size had gone back to normal. cheers for the heads up though, think i;m going to give ryan air a call"When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." shropshire 0 #10 November 30, 2006 Just to add about the rigs.. We took ours through Stanstead as hand luggage (not in a bag) last weekend - no problems at all (Took an x-ray card to smooth the way). Coming back through Girona, was even smoother - guess they see rigs all the time there. Can't make it for Xmas, but will be from 10th Jan - Hope to see some of you there. Bye, . (.)Y(.) By the time we got to the surf inn me and Greg had proper man colds... the girls were fine!! Mine turned into the worst flu i have ever had, spent the whole boogie halucinating, was horrible!! Think i did 2 jumps just at the end as i started to get better, i nearly DIED!!! it was horrific!!! MAN COLD!! Anyway, thats my Xmas Boogir road trip story. If anyone comming this year finds themselves in Asda can you get me some colemans cassorole mixes?? I like the sausage and onion one and the beef strogonoff, think they only 19p or summit Thanks Regan x--------------------------------------

caspar 0 #20 December 11, 2006 prices are on the website. 210 euros for 10 jumps and 500 for 25 i think. 25 block is non refundable so im planning to buy in blocks of ten. empuria is amazing, in my opinion better than deland and perris (i love europe, and having bars beaches strip clubs etc walking distance from the DZ is just plain wicked)"When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."
