ntrprnr 0 #1 December 5, 2006 The Intrepid made it out of its dock this morning, and is on its way to a two-year face lift. Shot these from my parent's pied-a-terre on 42nd and 12th, about 30 minutes ago. Safe travels, Intrepid! I look forward to throwing client events on your decks again when you return!!_______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." Give me their name. I want it. I actually didn't know you could take a tour until a few days ago and thought it would be cool to do. If it's getting overhauled to go back into service though more power to it. I can just get a private tour of an operational one when I visit my friend, who is in the Navy. Rebecca 0 #7 December 5, 2006 Yippee! At first, I read your last line as, "I look forward to throwing clients off your decks again when you return!!" you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

jimmytavino 16 #16 December 5, 2006 Thanks guys, for the info. i've been following the saga since they had trouble pulling it free from it's pier, back a few months ago.. every so often the newspaper would have an update about it... I Saw it up close a few times, but have never been on board... The airplanes caught my attention but the vessel earned my respect...good that the dredging operation was successful and the Intrepid is now afloat.. how cool to live near enough to that , to have seen it live... great !!! thanks for the pictures
 Shawndiver 0 #17 December 5, 2006 Awesome!!Amazing ship, I spent hours on it when I was back there in July! Looking forward to seeing it again after the refit. I understand they plan to open up quite a bit more of the lower deck areas to the public._________________
 AnnasSkies 0 #18 December 5, 2006 QuotePeter, So WTF is a "pied-a-terre?" if you translate it: feet-on-ground... so I don't know why you use this...fear is the mindkill
 usedtajump 1 #19 December 5, 2006 I watched this on TV this morning. I used to belong to a kayak club in Tribeca and led trips up to the Intrepid for the general public. I always loved the response people gave when paddling up right next to it. Things changed a lot after Sept. 11th, but you could still get close enough for it to be awe inspiring. I would love to have been on the water to watch it leave.Killing threads since 2004.
