What was your first rock concert?

Recommended Posts

Ted Nugent, St. Louis Missouri, I was 16 years old.

Was good times, especially when the old guy in front of me saw me staring at the baggy he had sitting on the ground beside him. He motioned me forward, and blew all the smoke he could into my face. Good thing I didn't drive.

It was either Rod Stewart (Maggie May) in 76 or Lover Boy (Turn Me Loose) opening and Journey (Open Arms)headlining the show in 76. (Not sure which one was the first one) Inside of the next year I saw Eagles, AC/DC, Buffet, Queen.

Dayumn I am gettin old...Need to pull out my 8-tracks and jam for a while...:o:P:$

Since then, I have seen Buffet 7 or 8 times.:)

Widespread Panic, 13 Chastain Ampitheater.

The last time I heard that band came through my area, the police had a field day with all the drugs and potheads.

I think some girl who went to the concert died in a motel room from an OD there that day.

Not dissing the band, but they do have their loyal groupie fans...

Cyndi Lauper with The Bangles opening. 1983, Melbourne, FL, my first year in college.

I bought a "beep if you bop" bumper sticker for my car. I was so naive, I had no idea what the song really meant, I just thought it was a catchy little tune. One of my friends had to explain it to me! The truckers seemed to like that bumper sticker a lot. :|

RUSH...I think I was 16...early 80s..Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures albums were out.

Great lightshow! I was fascinated with Geddy Lee (guitar and lead vocals) and Neil Peart (kickass on drums).

My intro to being around marijuana.

HAHAHAHA! Stops just short of says.....I GOT HIGH FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Getty plays bass, not guitar........bass is part of the violin family, but, yea, I know, everyone calls it a guitar!:P

Steppenwolf, in Rochester, NY in 1969. A month later I got to see Janis Joplin. I could give a damn about Steppenwolf, but Janis was like a human volcano, especially 'cuz I was just thirteen.

My mom grew up with Janis......My grandmother was good friends with Janis mom as well and we went to her house many times when I was a kid.:)

I am having such a good time on this thread I did not say my fisrt jam.....Huey Lewis and the News in 85. But the first real concert to make an impact like a concert should was Dio in 86 Last in Line tour.

Two years ago I saw Cake. When the opening band came on, I realized I was surrounded by 13 and 14 year olds and for most it was their first concert and they had no idea what to do. But, by the time the show was over, I had them screaming with their fist in the air! After the concert, many kids were telling me what a great time they had and how cool I was! I felt like Dewey Finn!:D:D:D:D

I went to my very first rock concert this past summer, so age 24. My jumping buddy is a lighting designer for tours and goes on tour with different bands like Linkin Park and Marilyn Manson. So I went to the Counting Crows and Goo Goo Dolls concert in the summer and got to watch most of the show from the side of the stage. It was a pretty cool experience. Yay for roadies trying to impress me.

...the door was open
