TrophyHusband 0 #1 November 27, 2006 my wife decided that our golden needed some company and drug me to the animal shelter. we came home with some sort of mutt that my three-year-old immediately named "cracker". we don't like the name but he's not budging, so it sticks. he's about 3 or 4 months old and seems to be a very good dog, although not house trained. he's gentle with the kids but can hold his own with an 80 adult dog. he's very comfortable in his crate and not at all shy. we've only had him for a day, but so far he looks like he's going to turn out to be an excellent pet. Evelyn 0 #7 November 27, 2006 Good for you adopting from a shelter. He is adorable. Looks to be maybe part lab? Our last dog was a lab and the sweetest most good natured dog. Enjoy! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
ScratchTX 0 #8 November 27, 2006 Looks a whole lot like my found-as-a-stray dog. One of those great "lab mixes," a wonderful dog. And about the dubious name "Cracker --" I didn't think I was going to keep my dog at first, so I didn't want to give her a name. I was just "fostering" her for a few days (RIGHT). But of course ya gotta talk to the sweet pup, using dumb terms of endearment... one term in particular... a term that you soon realize (with horror and chagrin) she now thinks is her name... So, seven years later, she still answers to "Pookie." You'll all get used to "Cracker" -- just don't get another dog and name it "Honky."
Michele 1 #9 November 27, 2006 Trophy Husband, you rock. Thanks for saving his life. He looks like a dear, smart, sweet one to be sure. You done good!!! Cracker isn't so bad a name...I just think it's hysterical for a black dog to be named Cracker. Maybe in a few days your baby will decide on another name...ask him then and see. He might get the urge to name it "Pup" or "Racer", like my brother's kids decided to name theirs. And Scratch, Pookie is GORGEOUS!!! Love the eye contrast with her coat. And yes, I know all about fostering animals and then just not finding them a new home. All about it. It's amazing how fast the attachment happens. In a heartbeat, a blink. Just that fast. Sigh.
