Covet thy neighbors sport bike....

Recommended Posts

So, I live in a loft building with a basement parking garage. I have lived here 4 years with the only motorcycle in the basement... Nothing to envy, be jealous of, nothing to covet thy neighbors bike.

Well, there is now a 2007 super sport sitting a few parking spaces away... My 2000 is starting to look, well, dated...

See the pictures...

Is it wrong to covet thy neighbor's bike? Should I spend some money this holiday season on myself?

EDIT: or should I just shoot my neighbor and "trade" bikes. ;-)

My vote is to buy yourself a CBR1000RR. I myself am a Honda fan (Yamaha is second). Get something that would make him drool...or if your really lucky, it's a woman that owns that R6.

By god what I would do for a woman that rides a crotch rocket.

Nothing wrong with updating, so go ahead and spend away! But your bike is hardly dated...take a look at mine. It's the granddaddy of the GSX-R's: a 1979 Suzuki GS1000E w/13k miles. I could buy about eight of my bikes for the price of the Yamaha. :P I lust just the same though...

Hey! Another newbie jumper with a GS! I've got an '83 750 myself. I'm looking at grabbing a katana off of a friend.

Well when your Dad's wrist bones have all fused together maybe you can take him pillion on your bike. I could never ride a ducati sports - the 748 is a work of art but about as practical as a chocolate kettle.

What you want is a cracking British sportsbike, like mine! (although i don't have panniers)

I make enough.... but I gots to find the RIGHT bike. Do I want a Harley to park on main at Sturgis? (then do I want a more vintage one or a post 2004... or act real spoiled and get a 2007) Do I want a sport bike (I know me.... I would want to go REALLY fast.... mabye it would be bad to have instant access to REALLY fast) or do I want a Dirt Bike and go off roading with it (I like 4wheeling... but maybe dirt bikin could be fun too) Or a Ducati (i'd be cool to take apart the dry clutch!)

Besides.... looking is fun too!

But.... I do wanna bike..... :|

I never said the neighbor had an R6... I said he had something new.:)
Really... I have always been a 600 fan. The only bigger bike I have ridden was a 1200 CC Triumph crotch rocket that I rented for a week in Hawaii (the Harley motorcycle rental shop owner's personal bike). It was far from light and nimble. Granted the new 1000s probably weigh less than my 600, but still... I thought about a 1000, but honestly, since I don't go to the track and I prefer the curvy mountain roads, the limit I hit is either my ability or the speed limit, and the 1000 might take me to that limit only a third of a second sooner... :)

I actually had a few friends who were girls who borrowed my bike on a regular basis after I taught them how to ride.

But the best thing I saw... Hollywood Boulevard, 1999.... A 1000 or 1200 CC super sport of some kind - I think it might have been a 'busa... I forgot the bike, other than the fact it was red. Long blond hair coming out from under the helmet, tight top, short mini-skirt (yes), and high heals... She stopped traffic and was able to make it thru quicker than a firetruck with lights going...

Back back to topic... I woke up and I still Covet my neighbors (new) bike...

The friend of mine that taught me how to ride used to race. And she is a Hottie!

Buy one of these and you will be able to FLY OVER the traffic, and, let your significant other have a skydive...

I do ride too...but I have a Vmax...tons of power, but does not like to turn or stop.

If you want a bike please don't buy a harley, I think you might be greatly dissapointed.

If you want a V Twin maybe a Bourgette or similar custom is what you want.

I would suggest a very nimble sport bike that won't fall apart.

Honda has very well built bikes

I prefer Suzuki Myself

Maybe an Aprilia or Ducati?

get something with low weight and great road handling.

The only theing you have to save you on a bike is the throttle brakes and lean angle/grip of the tires.

That is where all harley davidsons fail.

Oops I forgot to add that Triumph has great bikes that look really nice, and Norton has come back as well.

I would be getting it mainly to ride to Sturgis. Something I've always wanted to do. I would probably go for a post 2004 so that I wouldn't have to keep putting the bolts and such back together.... but don't know if I would go for a 2007...(fuel inj vs. carb.). I would be looking more at the Sportsters (probably a XL 883L... I like the mid peg positions (don't care for the floor boards)) Or the Dyna (FXDB) I understand that the trail is 4.5-4.7 and that would influence turning and traction... and that the Harleys are a bit heavier (6-650#) so that when I do set it down... I'll be VERY annoyed at having to get it back up. But.... you just shouldn't park anything other than a Harley on Main street. B|

I actually like the S2R1000 (Monster). Better rake angle (24deg. vs. 29 of the Harley's) and looks quite cool!!!

Also looking at the Yamaha YZF-R6S (kinda like tdogs neighbors.... but smaller cylind. bore and less compression ratio.... but that's ok)

There's just so many options!!!!! :S:SB|

Yeah, I had to quick coveting also, so this is what I did. 2003 Triumph Speed Triple and it is fun. As a matter of fact it is so nice out today I am going to get a quicky in.

Best part is my ex now thinks I am going into my second childhood as I got both the bike and a convertible this fall...silly woman has yet to realize I never left the original childhood;)

I have a 2002 Dyna Wide Glide. Fuel injection would be nice. I don't have that. I LOVE my bike. I've had to pick it up once, and was able to do it just fine with a little back put into it...lol. I have had to tighten up a bolt or two :)

I would be riding with you if I only had a voltage regulator[:/]

Does anyone here at all know where I can get a voltage regulator for a 1992 GSXR1100N?

The alternator rebuild guy has not been able to find one for it, neither has Fornarelli Racing[:/]

No reason to need a new bike as this one is good enough, unless I get a free Haybusa or a Rayjay turbo for my GSXR1100N
