alex_778 0 #26 November 17, 2006 Hi, I dropped 6kg in 6 weeks over the summer. I had stopped running for a while and put it on without realising and decided it had to come back off. I got back into my running and dropped a Kilo a week for 6 weeks. A kilo is about 7000 calories, a mile burns up around 120 - 140 calories (I do 8 miles a day at age 48), modify your eating to include fruit for breakfast and an apple or similar for lunch along with a muesli bar. No breads, potatoe products, nothing cooked in fat, no sweeties, no alcohol.................god its boring, but you will drop the weight.
Tonto 1 #27 November 17, 2006 Quote Anyone else expercienced this ? I've been jumping 21 years and am in my mid 40's. My peers who do not skydive look like they have... swelled somewhat. Sure, I'm about 10lbs heavier than I was 25 years ago, but it's not the 50+ pounds others have added. Skydiving certainly helps keep you in shape... or you need to be in shape to keep skydiving. I'm not sure if its the chicken or the egg. tIt's the year of the Pig.
shropshire 0 #28 November 17, 2006 Primarily in time for ski season.... But I'm also finding it hard to haul my lardy arse up a rock face at the moment too... I just thought that 5kg in 3 months would be safer than trying in less time. . (.)Y(.) Casurf1978 0 #30 November 17, 2006 Also instead of three meals a day, try eating 5-6 smaller meals. You're still eating the same amount of food but all throughout the day. You wont get that 'I'm starving' feeling. What works for me is the biggest meal of the day is breakfast around 730ish, then I have a snack around 10am, lunch rolls around 12:30-1, then another snack around 3ish finally dinner around 6ish. I try not to eat after 7pm. I try to eat a lot of protein from skinless chicken breast, fish and sometimes red meat. Also most of my snacks are veggies or fruit. Look at your carbs you want complex not simple, and dont be scared of fats in your diet. We need them. Try switching to olive oil when you cook. Drink a ton of water too. I know it might sound like a pain but once you get in the grove it's pretty easy. I've spoken to several trainers, bodybuilders and athletes and all of them agree diet is key. You can work out like a mad man, but if you dont give your body the proper nutrition the results will not show. Hope this helps. PM me and I can recommend a few books on nutrition. shropshire 0 #31 November 17, 2006 Thanks for that.... Last time I had to drop a few Kgs I followed a low carb/high protien diet and it worked fine (so have just started again today)... You're right about the water as well. I'll keep adding here over the weeks to show how it goes. Day 1: 75kgs (.)Y(.) RevJim 0 #32 November 18, 2006 I've lost almost 20 pounds (9 kilos) in the last 2 months or so (I needed it) by doing something very simple. I cut out all refined sugar and fatty foods. This means diet sodas, no candy (halloween was a bitch), ect. Also, in the fatty department, I 100% gave up all deep fried foods. Period. No french fries. No Jalapeno poppers. No mini tacos. It works. It really doesn't take long to realize just how BAD you were eating. It's your life, live it! freekflyguy 0 #36 November 20, 2006 Funny thing that. Im also on a mission to shed the lard, but I want to loose a little more than 5k. I have going to the gym at least 3 times a week, but will up that to every night mon - fri once my PT has sorted out a suitable programme. I have also made some adjustments to my diet, primarily cutting out the sjite I use to eat and cooking for myself. I took my kids skating to the Link centre in Swindon this weekend and discovered the climbing wall there so my GF and I are gonna start climbing (it scares me shitless but she loves it). The gym I go to has a Tanita machine that gives you a breakdown of your BMI, body fat %age etc. I was relieved to find out I am not quiet obese phew. Keep me posted on how you do bud. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Sockpuppet 0 #38 November 20, 2006 Your 11 stone and you want to lose weight? Are you a midget or something :o ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you. It might actually be unanimous but voice three only speaks Welsh.
freekflyguy 0 #39 November 22, 2006 So I started my new fitness/health kick a week ago. At my gym they have a Tanita Body Composition Analyser, so I jumped on it after my first session, not coz im paranoid about my weight just to give me an idea of how I am progressing. Hopped on the same machine last night after my workout, I was gonna wait a month between weigh ins but I thought what the hell. any hoo I have managed to shed 6lbs of lard in a week, and reduced my Fat% by 1.1. Now I know the largest weight loss occurs in the first few weeks of exercise/diet but i'm still chuffed. I am exercising 3 times a week at a moderate intensity for 40min (tread mill, bike, xtrainer) and have modified so that I am eating throughout the day rather than a a big scoff at the end of the day. I feel much better and actually saving money as I am not eating out/fast food all the time. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. TheBile 0 #40 November 22, 2006 QuoteGotta ditch some excess weight... what's current method of choice (I'm not gonna cut bit's of me off so dont go there!). Pick up a pebble off the beach and, with all the energy and might you can muster, throw it as far into the sea as you can. You'll then find that you've lost a stone already.Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. KA'CHOW !
