I watched two very entertaining games yesterday (Florida squeaks by South Carolina and Kansas State upsets Texas - with parts of the Cal/Arizona game also viewed). But next weeks Buckeyes/Wolverines matchup should be the game of the year. Let's hope the play on the field lives up to the hype.

Also with all the one team loses yesterday, should Rutgers be given consideration for the NC game. Well we know they BCS won't give them much respect, but the question remains. Is Rutgers in the same league as some of the other top teams?

I'm hoping.....if recent years are any indication, it should be a hard-hitting game. UM's D is good enough to keep them in the game, if they don't have to battle OSU's offense AND their own. I think it all comes down to Michigan offense vs. Buckeye defense - whoever can maintain the intensity will win. I don't think either team will score more than 20 points.

I have to vote no, due to strength of schedule. Plus, I think WVU is going to beat them by at least 21 points. I think you should have to play some big boys on your out-of-conference schedule to be seriously considered for any BCS game, not just the NC. I'd take even a two-loss Florida or Texas over Rutgers.

Depending on how USC finishes, I even think it's possible for a UM-OSU rematch in the NC game. Michigan and Indiana were the first same-conference teams to play for the basketball title (1976) - I wouldn't mind seeing the Big Ten emulate that milestone on the football field.

College ball rankings seem to be like golf. It takes a lot of hard work and time to climb the rankings, but it is so easy to lose a bit and drop real fast.

Yes Rutgers is probably not a truly elite teams. They still have three games remaining, but even if they win out, we've also seen that WV and Louisville aren't elite teams either. What yesterday told me was that upsets do happen in college ball. Don't let your guard down. I saw some cool stuff yesterday. I saw blocked punts, blocked field goal attempts, blocked extra point attempts. I saw punt returns run back for TDs and trick plays gallore. College ball seems much more dynamic than the pro game. Question? In college ball does an onside kick only have to go 5 yards now? Have the rules changed and I've just been caught napping?

Anyway ...

Is South Carolina that good or is Florida not as good as their reputation dictates. Florida did make a number of mistakes in that game. They got lucky. But you've got to be good to be lucky (blocked FG to win the game). Plus who would have thought that Kansas State would have played so well? What about Georgia's thumping on Auburn? Cal loses in the desert. While there does appear to be a few elite teams (next week is the game), there also appears to be a lot of parity in college ball (at least in the top 30 or so).

If next weeks game is close, who should get the one loss slot in the NC game? The loser of next weeks game? Or one of the other one loss teams? Roll the dice I guess.

You been watching Red Dawn again?

No, I don't watch movies until the football season is over (usually around January 1). I know you Aggies are done in mid-October at the latest. :)
Actually, I think Francionne has them going in the right direction.....had they got just a couple of breaks this year, they'd be Top 15. I wonder how much more time they'll give him ?

I think they'll give him one more season to prove himself. The last two games we flat got out coached. We really didn't get out played, just out coached. Lane is one of the best in college and we still don't go for it at 2 and goal. In both the last two games that would have given us the game. That and he didn't challenge the fair catch for a touch down for the game winner on Saturday. There was serious offensive pass interference and he let it go.

Oh well, McGee is really showing what he has the ability to become by the time he's a senior. Lets hope it continues. Eitherway there have been some serious good games within the Big 12 this year. Not just with the Aggies, but all across the confrence there have been decent number of really close games and just regular great football.

Edited to add: I really want to do the "O" "H"....

hmmm... I guess so... if they missed the PAT that is!

Where is the option for both teams to lose? That would suit me just fine! ;)

Since my beloved Dawgs are in a "building year". I have now focused my aspirations on the team I have been warning people about all year... Arkansas!

It's a texaswingnut sighting !

I was so disheartened to hear about your fall from grace.....going from a well-respected member of our armed forces to a student at OSU must be a terrible dissapointment. It's a shame the GI Bill wouldn't spring to send you to a decent school. You guys and gals deserve sooooo much better.

In reply to Skydave103 ----- Fight the Team: http://fightmusic.com/...__Fight_The_Team.mp3

"Fight the team across the field
Show them Ohio's here
(We've got the team why don't we)
Set the Earth reverberating
With a mighty cheer
RAH! RAH! RAH!
Hit them hard and see how they fall
Never let that team get the ball
Hail! Hail! The gang's all here
So let's win that old conference now!
(So let's beat that Michigan now!)
(Oh, Ohio! Oh, Ohio! Wahoo! Wahoo for Ohio!)"

Sounds like something a 3rd-grader wrote. And I don't think I've ever seen another school incorporate their rival's name into their OWN fight song.....seems like Michigan intimidates them a lot more than they'd care to admit......and has since about 1916, it appears. On the other hand, I was impressed that they spelled 'reverberating' correctly, and used it in the right context. :)
I heard the NCAA is considering lumping all 119 Div 1 schools into one superconference.....it will be called "The Big Two and the Little 117."

I do have to say its sad that UM is sending their own police officers to Columbus to escort their students and had to issue warnings that their fans should not drive a car with Michigan plates to the game and that they should no go to any campus area bars no matter the outcome of the game. [:/]:(

I've *heard* the Columbus police actually requested UM security to publish those warnings.....do you know if that's true ?

It's a sad state of affairs, either way.

(ps....at least Seth was brave enough to bet me, you a**hat :)

You want a bet?

A) Bucks win and I ban you for a week for picking a losing team
B) Bucks lose and I ban you for a week for gloating

Sound like a fair bet? :)

:D:D

Local newspaper is saying that UM sent out the memo on its own to just the student body and is working with Columbus PD to send their officers so that the students have a "safe" option to call so that the Columbus PD can not be accused of not protecting the UM students. I just don't want a repeat of the last riots here in town. :S

I heard an interesting interview a couple days ago on the subject of playoffs for the college football championship. Of course it makes sense in one way because with so many teams the rating system is largely/partially a beauty contest. However, if there were playoffs, the extreme importance of every game throughout the season would be gone. I hadn't considered that aspect.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
