It's more of an ethical thing. (I'm from Colorado. I HAVE to feel this way!)TPM Sister #

pre7117 0 #29 November 16, 2006 Its not that bad, I have lived here all my life. Nobody lives in detroit, they are all in the burbs. Stay out of the city limits and you will be fine. People need to come to Detroit to grow some balls.HELLFISH 429 POPS 11113
Dagny 0 #30 November 17, 2006 Thanks to everyone for the info on Detroit!! Kbordson - Hey, girl! I'm so freakin' excited about getting close to residency, but I'm nervous and stressed right now, too. And I have senior syndrome, big time! Anyway, I've applied to both community and university programs and have liked both, but I am absolutely clueless as to which program I'll seriously be able to get into. I've had six interviews so far, have one more scheduled, one I'm not going to schedule, and I'm waiting on responses from maybe ten more programs. The longer it takes to hear from them, the less confident I feel about opportunities to interview with them. Most of the programs have night float. The Detroit program does two full months a year. The Tulsa program I'm considering does one week a month. I absolutely want a program with it! OH! Here's a question for you. I like the Tulsa program quite a lot. I felt like I fit in well with the residents and staff and I know they have a very solid general and high-risk OB component. BUT, they are on probation for low surgical numbers. From what I understand, they have to be very "pro-active" in finding attendings to scrub in with at the area hospitals. They're actively trying to remedy the situation and they're an absolutely vital program to the Tulsa region. Would you take that kind of risk? Oh, and I have the red book already! It's fantastic! And a few more because I was pimped hard last week and I hate looking stupid. Went out that day and bought three more in hopes of covering all my bases. It's a sad addiction I have to these medical books! Hmmm, I suppose that would have been better suited in a pm, but I really wanted to thank everyone for helping me in trying to make a decision!Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali
masterrig 1 #31 November 17, 2006 Well... that explains it! Of course, living in Colorado and all. When Forsberg and Roy were with Colorado, those guys were so good. I recall, during the play-offs one year, the Red Wing's goalie and Roy met at center ice and exchanged punches. When the Wings played Colorado, (I think, 2-yrs. later) in the play-offs, Osgood (for Detroit) and Roy, met at center ice and exchanged punches. When Hasek first played for Detroit, and the two teams met again, Hasek, hesitantly, headed for center ice to meet Roy and fell flat on his face on the ice. Roy's expression, was priceless. No punches got thrown. Chuck
