Try to get him a Supa Kong, thats what they are called here but ive seen them in other countrys, anyway you can put treats, lickable stuff etc in them to encourage them to chew ( make sure you get the name brand one the only ones that arnt destroyable lol ) Oh and great fro summer, you can fill them with water and freeze them a bit like an iceypole for dogs :-) otherwise buy him something that squeeks lol

Something that squeeks? Not gonna happen seeing how his crate is in my room, and I dont need him killing that thing while I am trying to sleep. The Kong does sound like a good idea thou.

All my dogs are crate trained. It's completely worth the effort....they all love their crates now. When I got my last dog, we put a couple of our t-shirts in with her the first couple of nights. Seemed to calm her down. She still likes to sleep on our dirty clothes piles...lol.

So you take an animal that is really supposed to live outside, and not only condition it to live INSIDE but now also in a BOX?!
I agree, sad and pitiful.

Talk to Icon. He crate-trained Karma and is a huge proponent of it.

I have done crate training before with my dog that my parents have decided I am not allowed to have back since my mom is too attached to her. She loves her crate and even sleeps on it during the day when the door is left open. Its just the first week or so that they are trying to get use to it that are the hardest. Mainly because they are able to look so pitiful when you put them in there.

Funny thing is, my wife's dog (who she refuses to crate train) has no real problem going in there as long as I put a peanut butter filled kong in there to distract her for a little while. :S

I tried to crate train my Boston Terrier when I got her as a pup @ 6weeks.But I'm too soft hearted and caved in after an hour of her poor little wimpering and sad puppy noises and baleful looks. So she won and slept in bed with me.

I thought I'd try it again after I got married b/c she liked to get between us and push against us w/her back and paws trying to force us apart (shes a Daddy's girl now and has no use for me..little ingrate lol). But,since he added his 5cats to the family when we got married It didnt seem fair to make her sleep in the crate when all the cats were curled up on the bed with us.So we have the two of us,a dog under the covers on my feet, and a bunch of cats all over the bed and several sleeping on us every night in our queen size bed.:S I think if its going to stay this way I'll be investing in a California King bed/mattress so us humans have some room if we ever get a house.

But luckily since we'd crate her when traveling she got to where she liked it.So now when she wants her own space she paws the door open and goes in the travel kennel.Plus if she knows shes screwed up and done something bad she runs and hides in it and "punishes herself" b/c she knows if she doesnt then we'll lock her in it and punish her.So in a way, she kinda crate trained herself.

Kongs are great! I was skeptical about them being "indestructible" b/c Bostons have some serious jaw power when they want to.But I bought Daisy one while she was teething and she still loves it and it still looks brand new now 2yrs later.Whereas those Jumbone rawhides are supposed to garantee that they'll last a week..Daisy had it shredded and gone in a day.
