So what car do I want now?

Recommended Posts

Now that my little Vibe is "a total loss"? :(

If I was smart I'll save some $$ and get something used and econimical, which would give me more $$ for jumpy.

Ive been itching for a Mitsubish EVO ever since they came out with the Lancer version and I sold my VR4 Galant. But thats not qute the practical skydiver car.
Ive found a couple used Audi S4s for sale too. Not too pricey at that.

I dont want a full size truck again, Ive decided against it. Its just not practical when living intown Atlanta.

Hell I even considered buying another Vibe, but they dont make the GT version anymore. [:/]

I want something sporty, but roomy enough, and durable enough for skydivers and their stuff.

Suggestions?

I got real close to buying a used Dodge Magnum recently. That's a cool car. Don't buy one new, get one about a year or 18 months old that has all the options and the V-8 for less then a new V-6 version costs.

Beyond that I've always wanted to buy a Type 3 Squareback (its an old VW). That would be a cool car to have.

You could always find a 2-3 year old Crown Vic at a police auction cheap with probably around 80,000mi on it. Its the hardest 80,000mi that a car has ever seen, but atleast it was maintained well. You can usually get them for about $1k-2k.;)

Crysler(sp) make some nice looking rides but hell go ahead and buy that Vet you have always wanted.

Ive really never liked the Corvetts. Plus, if I was going to spend 45k on a vehicle I'd have an Audi S6, a used 911 Turbo, or other high end european car. ;)

well the 'vibe' wasn't really a sporty car.. so do you want something more for the room or something more like you said.. the audi s4s.. you'll just pay more on maintenance on EU cars, but they ride better

Not sure how many exist or how pricey they are in the States, but the BMW 3 Series Station Wagon might fit the bill?

You can get em, but my complaint with a lot of vehicles like that over here is you cant get a manual shift. I despise automatics. Plus, ive had a couple friends that have owned BMWs and had pricey service issues.

I should really go import (honda, toyota, etc) they've got the best track record.

you might want to look at the mazda 3's and 6's. They seem to be doing alright these days.

I'm with phree, civic si, and they make a 4 door these days. But who needs 2 other doors.
I have to say though, my si is not much of a skydiving car, but I make due.

If you like Audi, get one I doubt your regret it.

Thems my 2 cents.

An 05 Mazda 6 can be found nicely equipped with less than 20k miles for for a decent price (15-16k). Kinda sporty, kinda economical, and a good-sized trunk. I believe cruise, AC, ABS, traction control, side airbags, and steering wheel stereo controls are all standard.

a used 911 Turbo

I knew I liked you for some reason..;) Porsche 911 is my dream car.

Well, I'll throw another plug in for Honda. I come from a Honda family. I've owned two. Love my Accord..but like Phreezone said, the Civic SIs are sweet!!

I want a new CR-V...but saw my brother on Saturday and he told me to wait and see what people say about the new body style. :)

Nice choices; may I suggest an S4 4.2L Avant instead of the S6. The S6 is more something your grandma would drive. Now the S4 Avant is an active persons sports car.

The 944 is watercooled. Just isn't Porsche being water cooled. Just like modern VWs aren't really VWs since they're water cooled. Just hasn't been the same since the company got together with Audi.
