Lindsey 0 #1 November 2, 2006 In February I'm gonna take my 9 y/o son snow skiing. He's never been. Of course, he wants to learn to snowboard. Would one place be a better option than the other for a kiddo who's a newbie? Whatcha think? linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. billeisele 130 #2 November 2, 2006 don't know anything about Big Sky but Breck has a huge terrain park, plenty of varied terrain and a lot of kids unless you have big bucks to spend you can stay in a hotel in Dillion, about 15 minutes away, Comfort Inn or Quality Inn are goodGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
PLFXpert 0 #3 November 2, 2006 February? Can you wait a month? In March we'll be in Breckenridge, too.I've never been snow-skiing either, and I'm so excited. We can ride the bunny slopes together. But, Montana is GORGEOUS too.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
flyangel2 2 #4 November 2, 2006 Well, if you decided on Breckenridge let me know and you'll have a place to stay. I don't live right next to the slopes, about an hour and half drive. Plus, I can hook us up with some tunnel time PLFXpert, that goes for you too I know, I know, my profile isn't filled out, but if you do a search on me, you'll see I'm not a crazy stalker. freefallfreak 0 #5 November 2, 2006 I lived in Trego for a few years and skiied Big Sky a lot. It'a a great place, has plenty of instructors for lessons, a fantastic view from the bar, a great fireplace and lots of ambience. It would be my choice. PLFXpert 0 #8 November 2, 2006 Woo-hoo! I would LOVE to meet you and fly in the tunnel with you. I used to fly in the tunnel alllllllll the time and now it's been soooooooo long. Far too long. We have a place to stay--partially why we're going---a good friend that has extended an open invitation forever and has about given up on us.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Oh wait, that might hurt me to admit that I'll vouch for her not being a stalker, but not that crazy part. Seriously, Mary is a great hostess and she has the best pets ever! I stayed with her in Feb. this year and took my first shot at skiing at some slopes nearby. I gave up on snowboarding. Skiing was much easier to learn, in my opinion. While we were there, we went on a guided snow mobile trip along the Continental Divide. I highly recommend it! brianfry713 0 #13 November 2, 2006 As an expert skiier, I had more fun riding at Breckenridge. As a first timer, it probably doesn't matter as much where you go, as most places have a descent bunny hill section and lesson/rental package.BASE 1224, Senior Parachute Rigger, CPL ASEL IA, AGI, IGI USPA Coach & UPT Tandem Instructor, PRO, Altimaster Field Support Representative

davedlg 0 #16 November 2, 2006 Breckenridge...as far as the ski areas themselves go, you won't notice much of a difference as a beginner. But, Breck has a great town at its base and lots to do besides skiing! They also have a good ski school for the kids.

TheStepchild 0 #19 November 2, 2006 Big Sky!! I spent my first two years of college in Bozeman, which is pretty close to Big Sky. I spent a lot of time skiing there for a couple of winters. I love Big Sky! It's absolutely beautiful and perfect for beginners and more advanced skiers. Edit: Oh, nevermind... Why can't pirates and cowboys co-exist in perfect harmony? John George at Mountain Wave Snowboards will give you the best rate especially if you tell him I sent you. They even brought me ice creamBTW Kenyon, I was just thinking about you the other day. I need to talk to you about a day of boarding. I'll PM you the information.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
