Sweetness 0 #26 August 31, 2006 Go see a (sports medecine) doctor, don't hesitate ! 3 years ago I fell on my knees and my right knee hurt on the inside (no bruises, no swelling). I didn't trust it and wanted to go see a doctor, but my parents told me to leave it some days because the pain would probably go away. They told me the same thing the next week, and the next-next week ... The pain didn't go away and I finally went to the doctor. Over the last three years I've seen several doctors, sports medicine doctors, surgeons, fysiotherapists ... I took medication ... my knee has been knocked on, pushed on, bended, scanned, echoed, injected in, ... It still hurts Especially when I have to sit on my knees, I try to avoid that. I have to sit on them for packing though, but I put on a knee pad for that: it slightly reduces the pressure. Knees are complicated, and when I could turn back time, I wouldn't have listened to my parents and would have gone to the doctor straight away. Good luck, I hope it's nothing bad and that it will heal just fine ! "Ha ! I laugh at danger and drop ice cubes down the vest of fear ..." karenmeal 0 #27 September 1, 2006 Just got back from the doctor. My knee cap sucks and there is a good chance I will need surgery. I think outlook is good for having a good knee in the future.. the only bummer is that the next 4 weeks I was going to bust my ass packing to save up for the school year. So financially... this will be a bother. Someday I will be independently wealthy.. and everyday will be a good day to mess my knee up. dallycat 0 #28 September 1, 2006 I had a rough opening two weeks ago and ended up having the exact thing happen that you are mentioning. I couldn't support myself with that leg, it was that bad. I sat out for a few hours and tried to put weight on it again and while rotating it a bit i heard a pop noise and then mysteriously i could walk just fine. So in my infinate wisdom i went for another jump and in manouvering in the plane to exit i put my knee out again. Needless to say landing was a painful event. I took a week off and iced and elevated it, which didn't take down the swelling so i went to the doc. X-Rays said no damage so i have a MRI booked for next week. I can walk on it now but it feels "loose" and once in a while i feel a lose of range and pain. I have everyone telling me it is the meniscus and there is probably a tear in it. Sorry for the long story but your problem sounds quite the same as mine so after i get my MRI and am $800.00CAD more in debt i will post the findings to maybe help you out more. By the way i started with my general MD and he refered me to a specialist. I don't know you but i share your pain.. Take care, talk soon. gofast_ER 0 #29 September 1, 2006 why does it seem like every other person in the military (or at least army) has messed up knees? Well, maybe from all the running and rucking and crap. It still sucks. My knees aren't all that great but I can still make the runs and pass pt so I guess im fine for now.I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it. Feeblemind 1 #30 September 1, 2006 QuoteI'm not a doctor (just an old SF medic) The clicking noise sounds like cartiledge issues. I'd check it out. If that is all it is -- they can scope it and and you'll be back to normal in no time. Good luck! Yes clicking can be cartiledge, it can also be tendons coming across the bone bone or a damaged patella or patellar tendon. I think you may be right Steve, but an X-ray or MRI is the answer. ACMESkydiver 0 #31 September 1, 2006 Yikes...sounds similar to what I did snowboarding in March. If it makes you feel any better, they were intitally thinking that I might need surgery, but after about 8 weeks the pain was gone and I don't need to look at surgery until it starts degrading (arthritis) due to the injury, so that'll prolly be a couple of years. But you are prolly gonna be out of commission for a while...gotta let it heal or it will degrade faster. That's no fun.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. I went back to my doctor today for a checkup and to get the stitches removed. Wow! That was really gross! I am such a pansy. The arthroscopic incisions were nothing.. but my big incision was like 3 inches and looked revolting! This is going to be my first scar!!! I'm so proud! But Anyways... looks like I won't be skydiving for another 2 months or so. I have to keep my leg immobilized for another month. Packing is totally out for the rest of the season which is a bit of bummer.. but oh well. I will live. Well.. just thought I would post an update. That is about it. And no more pain medicine.. hooray!-Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
 NWFlyer 2 #37 September 19, 2006 Yay! How is it going? I just had surgery a week and a half ago for an ACL tear in my left knee (happened at the Lost Prairie boogie this year). Be glad you didn't do that, although I guess my scar is smaller. It's not fun, but I plan to work hard on my PT so that I'll be back at it as soon as I can. ~Raquel
 Prev 1 2 Next Page 2 of 2 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
