SpeedRacer 1 #1 October 23, 2006 As a Red Sox fan, I will never forget the World Series of 2004 when the curse was finally broken, ESPECIALLY with that amazing pennant race against the Yankees, when the Sox came from losing the first games to finally defeat the Evil Empire that is the New York Yankees. So what should I do now? My brother says he feels kinda bad for the St Louis Cardinals because they just happened to step right in front of the charging freight train that was the Red Sox in 2004, so maybe I should root for the Cardinals. On the other hand, this year it was the Tigers who kicked the Evil Yankees ass, so what should I do? I'm leaning towards the Cardinals, but I have to pick some team, otherwise it's no fun to watch. NWFlyer 2 #2 October 23, 2006 Are you saying there's some sporting event going on in the flyover states?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. SpeedRacer 1 #3 October 23, 2006 Apparently. They don't seem to have anything else to do. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
lawrocket 3 #4 October 23, 2006 It's pretty tough for me, since I am typically an American League fan, but I'm pulling for the Cardinals. I'm a lifelong Angels fan, and the likes of Eckstein, Spiezio and Edmonds are near and dear to me. Edmonds wasn't even on that World Series winning team, but he's one of my faves. Even though Jeff Weaver hosed the Angels this year, I won't hold it against him. Now, if Troy Percival was pitching, I'd be more torn. My wife is hotter than your wife. SmilingPhoenix 0 #5 October 23, 2006 Tigers. Definitely Tigers. Of course, as an Astros fan, I just hate the Cardinals, so I may be biased Because life is an adventure - it may not be the one you planned, but then it wouldn't be an adventure!

wmw999 2,588 #8 October 24, 2006 Tigers for me. I used to live about 75 miles south of Detroit, and I remember 1968, the astounding year that Denny McClain had a 31-game season. Al Kaline was awesome, too -- I saw him throw a ball all the way from the deep outfield to home plate. Bob Gibson was the star pitcher for the Cardinals (their opponents that year, too), but he was such a good guy that it was impossible to hate him, just fear him. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. PLFKING 4 #9 October 24, 2006 Tigers for me too. I remember Aurelio, and Mickey, and Freehan winning the '68 Series, plus we were outside the old Tiger Stadium when they beat San Diego in '84 (when they started 35-5, a feat that still astonishes me). Kenny Rogers is pitching miles ahead of his capabilities right now, and i hope he doesn't wake up until November. Don"When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all." NoShitThereIWas 0 #11 October 24, 2006 I don't know about the rest of you all, but since I moved to STL in Jan. '04, I am way impressed with baseball in this city. Baseball is taken very seriously here ... It was cool, I just took my parents from out of town to breakfast at the casino and there was a whole table of old timers ... They all had to be in their late 60's to late 70's, about 20 of them, having breakfast at the casino diner, looked like they were part of the Ra Ra Ra man team, not a woman in sight. Looks like they left all the ole bitties at home, but half of them were wearing their Cards shirts. I love driving by all the flags and signs here in St. Louis. The Cardinal spirit is here and it is strong. It has been exciting watching them play and no matter where I live now, I will always vote for the Cards and be a Cardinals fan. GO CARDS!!!!Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
