Muenkel 0 #6 October 19, 2006 Hello!!! I knew there was a reason I liked you. I had the privilege to meet and talk with him. He is very down to earth. To this day, my favorite song is still 'Solisbury Hill'. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

mailin 0 #9 October 19, 2006 Its not just his music thats incredible - his social work is too. He worked so hard with amnesty international in the mid 80s that he nearly went bankrupt - his friend in Genesis were the only ones that saved him, financially. I went to his show in Boston a few years ago, for his UP tour. What a great show - he had the blind boys of alabama as an opening act and they even joined him on stage for Biko - it was incredible. I became a fan of his in 1991 when I hear 'Games without Frontiers' on my way to the airport to go to CA. As soon as the flight landed I had to find a store that had the single (on cassette of course). I then went out and bought all of his stuff and then ventured into the older Genesis stuff (the newer stuff was crap, except for the last album, Calling all Stations, cause Phil Collins wasn't in it ). I always felt a type of connection to him as his daughter (who joined him on stage during this last tour) and I share the same birth year and similar birth stories (we were both preemies who weren't supposed to make it). My favorite Peter Gabriel songs include: Solsbury Hill Big Time Biko Digging in The Dirt Don't Give Up Games Without Frontiers Growing Up I Don't Remember In Your Eyes Mercy Street Red Rain (I think this is my favorite) Shaking The Tree Shock The Monkey Sledgehammer Steam The Barry Williams Show San Jacinto Here comes the flood Shock the Monkey I have the touch Ahh, so many more - I think I"ll bring all those Cds to work tomorrow JenArianna Frances

fireflytx 0 #11 October 19, 2006 When your falling is great, Mercy Street, oh hell all of it! Even the soundtrack for the Last Temptation of Christ is his work, very different and mostly instrumental. It is just beautiful!"Well behaved women rarely make history"
andy_b 0 #12 October 19, 2006 Be sure to check out: http://www.realworldremixed.com/ He's released "Shock the Monkey" to the public for remixing -- click on TOP TWENTY at the top of the page to listen to some of them... He's always been ahead of the music industry when it comes to embracing new ideas, technology, and supporting worthwhile causes! (Obviously, I'm a big fan of his -- saw him in concert in Germany for Secret World in '92 -- amazing)
freethefly 6 #13 October 19, 2006 Not one mention of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway????? By far the BEST that he ever wrote. Gabriel (Rael?) is a genius. Love his post Genesis work but feel that his work with Genesis was by far his best. The Lamb Lies Down concert (1974) kicked ass (the blotter acid that we ate was pretty damn good too. Ahhh come on now, what do you suppose the Lamb was?) Had to put the old LP on the turntable. slotperfect 7 #16 October 19, 2006 I have been a Peter Gabriel fan since I first heard "Solsbury Hill" on CHOM-FM (Montreal) in about 1979. I bought his "Hit" compilation from 2003 sometime early last year - it's quite good, and brought back all of the tunes I have not listened to in so long from losing them to vinyl and cassette heaven. I also love old Genesis, especially before the "And Then There Were Three . . ." album.Arrive Safely John

mfrese 0 #18 October 19, 2006 One of my most memorable shows ever was Peter Gabriel at the Paramount Theater in Oakland in 1979 (right after his second solo album came out). Unbelievable performances, and one of the most artistic and well-rendered sets of effects I've ever seen (the whole stage was plexiglass lit from above AND below, with some very cool laser and lighting effects). Shit, now I want to go home and listen to all my old Gabriel and Genesis records, but I don't have a record player anymore. Damn technology! MagicGuy 0 #25 October 21, 2006 Peter Gabriel is cool. He has some really weird songs but his sound is unique and I enjoy listening to it. Puts me in a relaxed mood! David Copperfield used to use Peter Gabriel music for a lot of his illusions. That's what made me a fan.
