wmw999 2,537 #26 October 20, 2006 Congratulations, Ed! You both look happy, and that's a great picture. Mama has good advice. You should listen to your mother . Squeak's story is cool too. In other words -- if you go out and listen to some marketing crap you're insane. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
jheadley 0 #27 October 20, 2006 QuoteGive her a ring from a gumball machine at the proposal and then tell her that you want to shop with her so she can get exactly what she wants. I bet she'd save that gumball ring forever. That's exactly what my dad did, and my mom still has the gumball ring.
jumpjunkie2004 0 #28 October 20, 2006 Quote Hell, we've even set a date already WTF, it aint like the old days dropdeded Congratulations! What an exciting time for you : ) Skymama had great advice - she's so smart : ) Or you could buy a fake ring from the dollar store - the gumball machine ones don't always hold up, but something that costs $5 might last a little longer. Good luck and congrats again!Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
TALONSKY 0 #29 October 20, 2006 What my wife and I did was go ring shopping together and she picked out the diamond and setting. I picked it up and we went out to dinner. I had prearranged for a horse and carriage to meet us at the restaurant and take us to the spot were we first met (all within about 1 mile of the restaurant which I mainly picked for location plus her favorite food). The horse and carriage pulled up into the park that we meet for the first time in and stopped. I got down on one knee and asked her ( I had a speech prepared so it would seem more from the heart). After words we went on a horse a carriage ride around down town. In the end she got the exact ring she wanted and has the fairy tale proposal to tell people about ( there was less of a suprise at the moment but the overall effect I think was perfect). goofyjumper 0 #30 October 20, 2006 QuoteYou beat me to the post. Any women that goes by the stupid diamond advertisements is a fucking gold digger. I asked the wife a rig or a ring . As she is a jumper a rig was the answer. The biatch got both because i am silly that way. But all in all, if she was like well, you need to spend 3 months of your salary blah blah blah, i would of been out of there. That is right. He spent a half a days salary.......----------------- I love and Miss you so much Honey! Orfun #3 ~ Darla

livendive 8 #32 October 20, 2006 Quote Of course, when it comes to the real ring, the industry says to spend the equivalent of 2 months salary. I say spend 4. After all, this is forever, right? In 20 years, 4 months salary in today's dollars will seem like nothing. There are some things you just don't skimp on. I can't see spending two month's salary on a ring, much less four! Maybe it's a function of income, but I don't consider my ceiling price to be "skimping". Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
