matt1215 0 #6 September 17, 2006 Looks like the weather gods are sleeping in. No, I'm not trying to jinx us. I moved to Florida 2 days before Wilma but she didn't pack much of a punch, at least not where I am. Ernesto was a total disappointment. Call me a sick sadistic SOB for wanting to see some serious, wrath of God type weather.

matt1215 0 #10 September 17, 2006 Yeah, I guess I should've read that a little more thoroughly. My bad.
matt1215 0 #11 September 17, 2006 Ok, I don't really want to see death and destruction. A small hurricane that picks up a few trees, flips a few cars, maybe levels a few buildings would be cool.
SkydiveStMarys 0 #12 September 17, 2006 Where are you originally from?? I like a good storm too, but after buying a home and a fairly new car...it can pass by without any destruction thank you very much. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. matt1215 0 #14 September 17, 2006 QuoteWhere are you originally from?? So Cali, Huntington Beach in particular. I always thought it strange that the west coast didn't get hurricanes, then I took an oceanography class and was thankful for the cold water at the beach. yamtx73 0 #17 September 17, 2006 I got lucky when Charlie came thru but having seen what these storms can do I'd prefer if they just kept sliding by like they have been this year... don't call down the wrath of the weather gods! The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers... matt1215 0 #18 September 17, 2006 QuoteAAaah California, that explains alot. Other than quakes, not much to worry about out there. The weather's damn near perfect which means I'll never in a million years be able to afford to move near my hometown. Too damn many people in California anyway. SkydiveStMarys 0 #19 September 17, 2006 Aren't you forgetting about mudslides and brush fires?? I would much rather face a hurricane then an earthquake, ANY DAY!! BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

Yeah, I guess this kind of talk is like playing with fire. Did Charlie cause a lot of destruction around you?
matt1215 0 #21 September 17, 2006 I didn't see much in the way of mudslides and brushfires, at least in my area. In Fountain Valley (my hometown, next to HB), we'd sometimes get a rain of ash from the fires, sometimes see the orange glow in the hills at night. I saw enough earthquakes growing up that I'm really not afraid of them. Waking up to moving walls does suck, but I slept through a few tremblers. I guess the big advantage with hurricanes is you know they're coming.

matt1215 0 #23 September 17, 2006 QuoteYes, it took 2 years to get everything back to "normal".... Sorry to hear that, that sucks. You know you're lucky if your house is the oldest on the block b/c a major hurricane washed away your neighbors. Hope it wasn't that bad.
matt1215 0 #24 October 12, 2006 I said it before and I'll say it again. This has been a damn quiet hurricane season. My first year in Florida and I'd hoped to have seen some real wrath of God type weather by now .
